Does Vitamin D improve your mood ?

Since October I’ve been taking extra Daily Vitamin D tablets on top of my daily multi vitamin and I feel like my mood and outlook has really improved.

I originally started taking them for the Covid boost that I kept reading about , that it would help immune system and read people with higher levels of Vit D coped better with Covid.

Now I don’t know if it’s just coincidence but I’ve been feeling really good , upbeat , organised , not so tired just really level and calm.

This is even with lockdown and DC at home , all of which is obviously utterly crap but I don’t feel like it’s dragging me down.

I don’t know if it’s the Vitamin D but it’s the only thing I’ve added or changed to my life

( already normal BMI , healthy , go outdoors daily no matter the weather etc )

I tried to look it up online but can’t find any information on vitamin D affecting mind only body

@IceDiscoSkater the GP did it as part of a thyroid review

That’s great , it must be good to get the specific results like that.

I'm in France and these are the over the counter ones here. The dose seems way higher than the uk one. You can get vials too but they are a mega dose.

www.pharma-gdd.com/fr/zymad-10-000-ui-ml-solution-buvable-10-ml

Not sure if this pharmacy delivers to the uk but I imagine so. It's got excellent prices for so many products.

Depends on how much u took to get high Wink

On a serious note, it improves you're well being and a side effect of it could be a good mood

Me too! Been taking it since the autumn. Wouldn't say I was entirely happy, what with the whole pandemic thing, but a lot more positive and on an even keel than I was before, and less wanting to slump in the afternoon. I take three calcium, magnesium & vit D tablets - which are 400 IU and them some vitamin D liquid - of which about 10 drops are another 1,000. So, probably about 1400 a day, maybe slightly more. I stock up at Holland & Barrett.

If you have blood tests at the doctors you are legally entitled to know what the results are.

I was on anti depressants for about 20 years, every time I stopped I ended up getting worse. I have been off them for about 5 years since taking Vitamin D3 and the co factors K2 and Magnesium.

With vitamin D it is important that it is D3 and not D2 and it is better in an oil filled capsule. Overweight people need more than others as it is a fat soluble vitamin. I take 8000 in winter and 4000 in summer, (except when I am away somewhere sunny). Also vit D is ideally taken with fat containing food of some sort, it helps absorption.

One of the best forms of Magnesium is Mag365 as it is easily absorbed, you can easily adjust your dosage (it's powder) and there aren't unnecessary fillers.

I have definitely felt a difference with vitD. I'm olive skinned so apparently I'm in one the risk groups for deficiency in the UK. I suppose anyone not super white would be Confused

I started taking the maximum daily dose (have been supplementing for a while now), but this new tablet seems to be upsetting my stomach. Anyone experienced same? Griping pain.
