Cotton bedding- big ask ?

Hi I'm getting increasingly frustrated trying to buy bedding and I wonder if anyone can point me in the right direction ?

I'm looking for a double fitted sheet ,100% cotton with a depth of 28-30cm. Colour a deep purple - plum or aubergine are the usual suspects.

Also to go with it a single duvet set , 100% cotton , same colour / colour scheme as the sheet. Don't mind patterned or plain.

I am getting extra deep sheets with a 25 cm depth or described as 100% cotton then it's 50/50

I'm not sure where I'm going wrong - usually just nip up Asda and grab whatever is on offer so this is new to me

M&S or John Lewis

Also look up Brushed Cotton you might finder the % is better.

Is brushed cotton any good for someone suffering night sweats ?
That's the reason for the wanting cotton.

I wouldn't use brushed cotton if if the person is having night sweats, I think it would feel a bit too hot to sleep on. Do they have a good mattress protector on the bed? That way you can change the bed sheet as and when needed, and then wash the mattress protector every week or two to keep the bedding clean and fresh.

Sainsbury's usually have some 100% cotton sheets, and John Lewis is also very good for bed sheets, though they are a bit pricey compared to the supermarkets. You may need to find a company who sells deeper sheets online, have you tried a Google search for the depth you need?

I've googled but ads are so misleading by the time I read the description it's 50/50 polyester or the deep sheets are 25cm

Have you looked at soak and sleep?

Zara home ? They do fitted cotton sheets for different depths of mattress, and often have deep colours.

M+s and next both have deep fitted sheets.

If you need deep sided sheets you can just size up; we’ve got a king size bed with a deep mattress so I usually get super king sheets which fit much better. Agree Sainsbury’s do some good 100% cotton ones at a good price. My duvet/pillowcase sets are all from Linea, all 100% cotton and they do some lovely designs. I got ours from House of Fraser but you can get new packaged ones from eBay too at good prices.

Probably a silly question but if my mattress is 28cm deep will a 40cm one be ok ?

Wilkos have some nice Egyptian cotton sheets, that have a good depth - I think up to 35cm. Not sure about their range of colours though.

Ikea sell deep fitted sheets. No idea re colours.
Can't you just dye them the colour you want

I've just invested in French linen. The best nights sleep I've had for ages. No sweats or waking up at all and I forgot my bottle of frozen water that I usually sleep with. Hugely expensive but if I look after them they will last my lifetime.

Aldi sometimes do 100% cotton bedding at v. good prices. You do have to be careful though, because it’s not always obvious whether it’s just poly-cotton.

We just bought new sheets, deep fit, from M&S and John Lewis, I personally think the JL are nicer. We had 400 count first and they were lovely and soft, I bought 200 recently, still nice but I would go back to 400 next time.

Not sure what colours they do though, I only have white sheets.

Brushed cotton is too warm if you suffer from sweats. A mattress protector is a good idea as well. We have cotton ones, they are better for me as they don't cause sweating. DD had the ones you buy when you fear children having accidents and I think they are too hot.

TK Maxx? I bought some Egyptian cotton bedding off them, very nice.

I've just priced up 230 count at M&S and it's £62.50 (you have to buy pillowcase separately).

The colours are very vibrant, and they are easy to use

Thanks all. I am far too busy (lazy) to be bothered dyeing it especially when it's not cheap to start with.

I think M&S is looking like the best option so far , I've spent hours on eBay but you can't really see what colour you'll actually get.
