I've woke up today in a really low mood. The weather is awful where we are, lockdown is getting to me plus its my time of month. I just want to curl up in a ball and go to bed but with 2 kids this isn't possible. I'm trying to hide my mood for them but failing miserably. How do you parents on days like these Sad

If it’s just one day, then a make a bedroom picnic or grab the duvet and bring it to the sitting room, curl up and let them watch endless tv with food that takes minimal preparation and declare it an official duvet day. As long as everyone has eaten, drunk, and taken necessary medicines, that’ll do as a one off.

If it’s a longer slump, then I try to get us all organised to leave the house even for just a walk to the post office or similar. In normal times I call a friend and we arrange to meet up which makes the day pass. In these times and as long as I was safe to drive, I’d load us up and drive for half an hour in order to top the car battery up, aiming to land at a McDonald’s drive thru or similar before driving home.

Depends how old they are. If younger(under 6), I would set up camp on the coach, chuck a bucket of toys beside me, and watch movies all day. If older (6+), I'd stay in bed, get up to get them food, but let them more or less fend for themselves. It won't hurt them once in a while

cup of coffee warm bath book and put yourself in time out for 30 mins, changes my mood like you wouldnt know! Just a bit of peace and quiet to calm me down and chill. Then get the tv off and put some great music on and have a dance with the kids and be silly for a while, nothing like it! and it does everyone good,

Your kids will think it’s the best day ever.

Yep same my anxiety has skyrocketed today, bleh! Going to divide and conquer, I need fresh air so taking eldest out and DH will deal with little one. Tidied the house which didn’t sort anxiety but at least I can say I’ve done something today.

Let them watch a film while I hide in the other room. Later, drag them out for a walk in the hope that people who say going out will make you feel better are telling the truth.
