As ive been in the military for 14 years, and this is the first 'proper' job ive applied for, and the first time ive been through the recruitment process, what does this mean? Have they found someone they like the look of already? Are they going to say no to everyone thats already applied? It was supposed to be open until 1 March, and its already closed. I already applied at the start of the week. Do anyone know what this means?

In NHS recruitment they put on the job adverts that they will close early if they get a lot of applicants so they've probably just had a good number of applications already.

shazkevincarrotlover · 30/01/2021 09:48

It usually just means they have enough applicants that meet the criteria and don't want to interview hundreds of people.
This happen regularly with NHS jobs i guess everyone is following suit

TheRealMrsMorningStar · 30/01/2021 09:49

I think they normally close jobs early if they have too many applicants. Glad you got your application in - I was busy writing a supporting statement for one last week and when I went to upload they had closed 🤦🏼‍♀️

Good luck with your job hunt!

JemimaTiggywinkle · 30/01/2021 09:50

Agree, they’ve probably reached the maximum applications they’re willing to sift through. Don’t think it means they’ve found someone.

BluebellsGreenbells · 30/01/2021 09:51

You need to apply for lots of jobs and keep a record of each job description and application - helps you keep track

Make sure your application is relevant - you will have lots of skills make sure these are noted

girlsyearapart · 30/01/2021 09:52

With teaching jobs it usually means they had someone in mind for the job but have to advertise for a certain amount of time

Letsallscreamatthesistene · 30/01/2021 10:02

Ah ok. It is a NHS job!

Good luck with your application - nhs recruitment can feel a bit slow, so don't worry if you don't hear quickly this is normal.

Camomila · 30/01/2021 10:19

That's good to know, I applied for an NHS job at 10pm on closing day last week - applications were still open. Seems like they didn't get too many applicants then.

ScrapThatThen · 30/01/2021 10:24

I applied in April, heard back in June, interview in July. It varies though!

Tanfastic · 30/01/2021 10:30

Yes as above with NHS jobs. Always apply ASAP as it's often they will close early.

Letsallscreamatthesistene · 30/01/2021 12:33

And do you always hear back? Even if its a no?

murasaki · 30/01/2021 14:37

I doubt it if there are hundreds of applications. We don't in HE admin. No time.

Tickledtrout · 30/01/2021 14:43

Are they recruiting under the guaranteed interview scheme for present or former armed forces? If so, and you meet the essential person spec criteria and ticked the box you will be offered an interview

Letsallscreamatthesistene · 30/01/2021 15:04

Yes they are. I think it said if I meet even the minimum requirements I get offered an interview. Im not sure if thats a good or bad thing! At the very least its interview practice I suppose

In my experience in NHS jobs you do hear back if you haven't been shortlisted for interview, keep an eye on your junk mail too!

Tickledtrout · 30/01/2021 18:56

Good luck OP

Letsallscreamatthesistene · 30/01/2021 18:59

Thanks everyone. I applied on tuesday, and I think they probably closed the advert yesterday so im not expecting to hear anything that soon!
