Convent Girls - Tell me your best school stories!

Mine are: the school arranging dances with a boys school and then measuring with a ruler to make sure we were 2ft away from a boy at all times. Telling you a boy can see up your skirt if you wear patent leather shoes. Explaining the rhythm method of contraception in far too much detail.

I didn't go to a convent school, but my oldest friend did (as she didn't pass the 11+ in year whenever).
She loved it, because, as she was not catholic, she got lots of free time due to saints' days etc.
It also seemed to be the choice for parents of girls, who were not academic.

We used to lock each other in the Nuns' graveyard.

Sr Bernadette taught PE. Have you ever seen a nun in a tracksuit?

"The best oral contraceptive is No!" Early 70s. But on the whole, my convent school was great. Sisters mostly kind, engaged, interested and very committed.

I’m genuinely not entirely sure, but I’ve definitely seen one in jeans, trainers & a sweatshirt (plus cagoule, DEFINITELY a cagoule, not just a waterproof coat that) go abseiling. In January. Look still topped off with her veil, obviously, because she wouldn’t want to look silly.

(And I’d not even to attend a Covent School for the privilege. In fact by the time I was secondary-bound I’d have struggled to, my local one was in the process of evolving into Just A Catholic School, no idea where the next-nearest is. I’d just to be confirmed. Nun in question was even my catechist. From the same convent as my Junior School Headmistress, too.)

Girl in biology class asked if we would be getting any sex education, and was told by the nun who taught it certainly not, and she was a Brazen Hussy for asking. Mid 80s.
