Best podcasts?

I walk a lot these days- what else is there to do!- and I am looking for engrossing podcasts which last about an hour. I like true crime, history and ones about books or writing. Currently hooked to Crime Junkie by Ashley Flowers. Also like How to Fail by Elizabeth Day. Prefer two hosts at least: don't like monologues. Any suggestions?

Red handed is a good crime one

The Lovecraft Investigations on BBC Sounds. It's a radio 4 drama series and it's brilliant

Thinking Sideways
Infinite Monkey Cage

I have enjoyed these while walking:
Serial
In the Dark
Nice White Parents
Fake Heiress
Slow Burn
Sincerely, X (bit monologue-y for you, maybe?)

1619 is good.

Oh yes Serial 1 was great, wasn't it? Though I could not get into series 2 and 3. Also loved Dirty John.

Will look up these others.

They walk amongst us!! I binged it!! Especially the 4 episodes about poor Stuart Lubbock! And the episode about poor Natalie Connolly...

Mammyloveswine · 28/01/2021 20:47

Oh sorry just seen you prefer two hosts..

Another crime junkie fan!

Undisclosed - takes a much deeper look at Adnan Syed’s case than Serial

There are a couple of other podcasts linked to Crime junkie:
Anatomy of murder
Counter clock
Women and Crime

Also: the teacher’s pet (Australian missing person case) and Murder on the space coast (I think these cases have been done on crime junkie, but these are whole series dedicated to the case)

I highly recommend

Murder most Irish and All Killa No Filla

I'm actually extremely jealous you get to listen again from that the start to them both

I just realised there is a separate section for podcasts with lots of suggestions. Silly me. Thanks for all the suggestions. How to Fail doesn't fall into any of the categories I mentioned, but I still like it, so I should probably branch out more.

Real Crime Profile has three presenters and goes pretty in-depth. I think one of them worked on Criminal Minds.

Louis Theroux is good. I like Soundtracking with Edith Bowman and there are often some good ones on the Joe Rogen podcast.
