Hotmail hacking

Help!

I was expecting an egress email from my children's school and so very stupidly fell for a phishing one.

I entered my password for my hotmail account 😣. Kicking myself!!

I've changed my password. Is there anything else I can do? I was on my iPhone in the Hotmail app so I don't think my phone will be compromised.

Changing your password is the main thing. Now they don't have your password, so can't get in. Job done.

Enable two-factor authentication asap. They'll send you a text each time you need to log in, or you can install an app on your phone that generates a secure code that you enter (a bit safer).

Do you use the same password for other services?

Did the site only ask for email and password?

Enabling 2FA as previously suggested is worthwhile going forwards, and will prevent 99% of attacks going forwards, should your credentials be leaked again.

Thanks all, this is reassuring.

Can't believe I fell for it! Really shook me up.
