If your adult offspring are on a different continent, how are you feeling at the moment?

I have a daughter (she's early 30s) who has lived on a different continent for the past 9 years. We've visited numerous times. Obviously things are very different now and whereas if anything had happened pre-Covid - serious illness or an accident - we'd've been straight on a plane, this is much more problematic at the moment. How are parents feeling about this? Gove said yesterday that travel might be possible for compassionate reasons but these would be considered on a case by case basis. This sounds lengthy...
Has anyone any words of wisdom?

I'm in the opposite situation from this, moved to another continent 12 years ago. From my perspective, I think that I'm more concerned about my parents than they are for me, with good reason. They have both had health issues and have been shielding and I've been very concerned that if they get the virus, one of them might not fare so well.

For us, we have been lucky in that WFH with no reduction of pay has been possible, and although our world is much smaller due to lockdowns, and we have been very vigilant about mixing with others, we are coping with it pretty well really.

We've always done FaceTime chats so have kept those up. By the time I manage to get back over, it will have been at least two years since I will have seen them 🙁

Yes - it will likely be 2 years since I saw my daughter.

It just worries me hugely that something might happen and I cannot get to her quickly.
