If you WFH, what's on your desk?

Thought I'd start a little light hearted thread amongst all of the doom and nastiness. I have the tiniest desk, and I'm thinking it needs a bit of a clear up. So here's what's on mine:-

Laptop (obvs)
Mouse
Alexa Dot
Chilli's bottle
Ipad
Phone
Handcream x2
Lip balm x2
Airpods x2 (one for laptop, one for ipad)

Oh and the remains of breakfast at the minute! What's on yours?

I also have a very tiny desk. It currently has:

  • Monitor
  • Headphones
  • Mouse
  • Ezcema cream & hand cream
  • Post-its
  • Notepad
  • Specs case
  • Pencil pot
  • Mug

I could possibly get shot of the pencil pot but ds2 made it for me to make my desk look nice so it stays.

Touloser · 28/01/2021 11:33

It's good to know I'm not the only one with a feline colleague. People are very concerned when she doesn't attend video calls

sleepyhead · 28/01/2021 11:35

My laptop is on a dock on the bottom shelf and my keyboard is on a pullout shelf. I need a hook for my headphones and if I had space to push the monitor back literally another 2 inches I'd be set.

I have a tiny little corner desk from Ikea. It's perfect as it slots in the corner of the box room nicely, and has shelves and an upper section.
On the desk itself I have
Laptop
Riser
Keyboard & mouse
Work phone
Personal phone
Water bottle and empty coffee cup
An absolute fuckton of pens, some of which actually work.

The shelves hold essentials like handcream, lip balm, stationery odds and ends. The magnetic back has got my to-do list, photos of DS and a magnetic pen pot.

The upper section has the printer, lots of photos in frames and art that DS has done and some plants.

It's a nice little set up! I had it all to my self for most of last year but DP is now back at work after being furloughed for months and I have to share it Angry

FenEel · 28/01/2021 11:40

Well, I share with DH so I will just look at my side, which is a complete tip.
Laptop
Phone
Sellotape
Empty clean Golden Syrup tin (put there by DH for some reason)
Tupperware pot full of mixture of crap and important small things like a padlock, MP3 player, and a lanyard from a job I had ten years ago
Address book
Unused Christmas cards
My current notepad and aout 5 previous notepads
A five year diary from 25 years ago
A plastic cup full of similar crap to the tupperware box
An overflowing "in tray" with tax returns, financial things and God knows what else
Tweezers
A coaster
And on the windowsill just above my desk:
Speakers
DS's camera
A phone charger
A dusty MP3 holder
A thing that turns tape cassettes into digital files
A china bowl full of business cards, loyalty cards etc
Pen holder with pens in
Pint glass wth pens in
Birdwatchers POcket guide
Some notebooks
Something made out of lego
Some batteries
Some pills
A cheque book
Blu tac
Some random invoices etc put there by DH

Dh's side is less cluttered but only because he seems to have put half his stuff on my side.

PrimeraVez · 28/01/2021 11:42

I had a sneaky suspicion from early on that the initial move to WFH for 'a few weeks' would last longer than that, so I quickly commandeered our small junk room downstairs and turned it into a home office.

Desk has:

  • Laptop
  • Keyboard and mouse
  • Monitor
  • Printer
  • Small plant pot (with fake plant in!)
  • Neom wellbeing pod
  • Framed photo of DH and DS1
  • Ikea desk tidy with pens, notebook, hand cream, airpods etc in
LST · 28/01/2021 11:43

I sit on my sofa. I have done for 12 months. Have no room for a desk and the kids have taken over the dining table

Forgot the cat who appears to steal pens

If you WFH, what's on your desk?
OooErrThor · 28/01/2021 12:04

Currently on the kitchen breakfast bar and have
Laptop
Mouse and mouse mat
Water bottle
Mug of tea
Calendar
Pen
Ruler
Eleventy billion files

I do have a desk but we are decorating and so using my desk area as a dumping ground, looking forward to getting it back as it has a monitor and printer which makes work life a lot easier.

BarbaraofSeville · 28/01/2021 12:05

Not too bad at the moment, I have a small table that's just big enough so like to keep it clear as I can. Mostly the normal laptop, screen and docking station, plus:

mobile phone
hand cream
a knife leftover from breakfast
couple of documents I need to refer to, pens
diary, work note book and the notebook I use to record details of the foster kittens (when they came here, weight, worming dates etc).

Sounds like the cats have got used to us all WFH. Last March they were giving me looks that said 'what the fuck are you doing here, disturbing my daytime peace and naps'.

Two of my own cats have paid me a visit today to dry their paws and shake water all over my screens.

None of the current foster kittens have yet discovered that the little docking station thing is the perfect size for a kitten bed and is heated!

One of the previous ones who's now gone to his forever home used to sleep there for hours every day.

BarbaraofSeville · 28/01/2021 12:05

@QueenPawPaws

Forgot the cat who appears to steal pens
Thinking about it, there are usually more pens on the floor under my desk than on it, due to the cats.
LarsErickssong · 28/01/2021 12:14

Laptop in stand
Monitor
Keyboard
Mouse
Alexa
Box of tissues
A hand gel I found in my laptop bag yesterday

Water bottle
Petrol receipt
'How to survive a boring day at the office' calendar which has mini tasks for each day

It's a large desk and despite the long last isn't actually very cluttered!

Ginfordinner · 28/01/2021 12:25

Some of you must have ginormous desks Grin
Mine is really a table from Amazon, but it fits nicely into a spare bedroom and is ideal for me.
I also have my chair from the office, and a monitor riser.

NastyBlouse · 28/01/2021 12:27

Don't mind me, I'm just here for the photobombing cats

StarlightLady · 28/01/2021 12:35

I always had a reputation from operating from a clear desk in office. Same working from home. So, laptop, phone, coffee mug. I don’t need pen and paper because l have the keyboard. My handbag though is another story!

everywhichway · 28/01/2021 12:40

Laptop
Phone
Tea

InTheNightWeWillWish · 28/01/2021 12:43

We bought a proper desk when IKEA reopened in the summer but there’s a lot of crap on my desk Blush

Laptop on a stand
Docking station
Second monitor
Mouse and mouse mat
Keyboard
Desk tidy with pens, highlighters, post it notes, business cards, my Apple Watch and a spare charger (you’ll see this is the most ironic thing on my desk shortly)
More business cards
Several pens and pencils not in the desk tidy
Pile of post it notes with (mostly) useful stuff written on
Notebooks and some paperwork I grabbed from the office
Work phone and charger
iPad
Personal phone
AirPods
Lip balm
Hand cream
2 dog squeaky balls
2 stuffed toy elves and a Rudolph
A tiny Christmas tree (real one in a pot - I figured I’d try to keep it alive but I’ve not found a home for it)
Brochure for new flooring
Scissors
Mortgage statement
Luna lovegood lego figure
Face mask
Tea light holder with a tea light
Microfibre cloth
Paracetamol and voltarol
DH’s glasses case
A bear lamp
An unsent birthday card
A ball of wool that has escaped my stash and some buttons
And a boot lace

We bought a L-shaped desk so most things are under my monitor, laptop stand, the L-shaped bit so I do actually have space to work. Even if it doesn’t sound like it.

idontlikealdi · 28/01/2021 12:43

Laptop perched on top of board games
Monitor
Keyboard
Mouse
Day book
Pencil case

2 x kids laptops
2 x mice
2 x mugs of pens (no idea why when they have a gazillion pencil cases)
Homework diary
Exercise books
Pile of random papers
Colouring pencils
Poster paint
Play doh pot
Scarf
Face mask
Empty mug
Two empty glasses

Basically it's a massive mess and the kids stuff is sending me over the edge
