People flying to the UK Why?

Just watching the news and trying to work out where all the incoming passengers are coming from and why? Surely most travel for work should be online meetings etc.
Some people coming back from overseas fair enough or something urgent within their family.
Does anyone actually know what people are flying in for? Just interested

My DD has been stuck overseas at university. It is a year since I last saw her. She has to come home before May, as her visa runs out and she needs to be in London to renew it. Might account for some of them!

My friend has a hard to treat cancer. Her sibling lives abroad. There was initially a big delay in them getting here as their own state was in lockdown for weeks in the autumn. Luckily they got here late December. I’m sure there are lots of cases like this one.

When my husband comes - as i pray he does - it'll be for the birth of our second child. We live abroad, i came back with DD to see my terminally ill mum, the country we live in closed its borders to the UK during that time.

If they don't open up before my due date, he'll have to come here!

Dubai cos they fancied a camel ride? Saw a clip on Twitter from this morning of some influencer or other..

'Influencers' travelling for holidays.

Auditing places like factories, although if my company's anything to go by then the cast majority of this will be happening virtually or using in-country staff.

International organ donation couriers.

Importing goods.

Repatriation due to visa issues, family issues etc.

Erm...

Expats living abroad who are coming back to see family / to renew visas etc. Seeking treatment on the nhs. People whose contracts have ended moving back home. People arriving to start new contracts. People in HM forces or foreign service coming home for visits / end of tour. There’s probably a few people coming and going for holidays but there’s a host of reasons why people would travel.
I’m an expat - I’ve just watched my much loved aunties funeral on a video link. I would have given my right arm to be there in person.

Prison warders expatriating prisoners to face detention in their own country.
(I know someone who does this. While he's globetrotting and we're stuck at home I don't envy him being hadcuffed to someone for hours at a time!)

Two local friends have flown to the UK recently. One returning to university. The other because her mum had died. Both of them struggled with the decision because the UK is so unsafe right now compared to where we live.

Thanks for all the information I really could only think of the family linked reason and not business reasons. Interesting to see what people have experience of.
It seems it probably is mostly returning U.K. citizens for personal reasons.
There must be some specialist bods/engineers as well that come to maintain or repair specific tech or equipment.
