Wasn't sure where to post this, but does anyone know how or where to report a private company for poor service?

It was a drains company who came to clear an outside drain but ended up making it worse. They also hiked up the price from the original call out quote of £120 to £500!! and I felt on the spot and paid it, but subsequently I can see that they shouldn't have upped the price - their website small print says the price will only increase if new parts are needed, and none were. Finally they came into our home to turn off the water and play with the taps and I caught them without any PPE /masks etc (was busy getting baby to nap). Their service centre assured us they'd wear full PPE indoors.

I've already complained to their director and was told I'd get a full response by x date but haven't. When I chased they said they'd respond by this morning but haven't.

So my question is, as they are a private company, to whom can I complain?

Maybe trading standards.

If you paid by credit card, you could maybe contact them?

Thank you. I've gone with trading standards. Unfortunately I've just seen a load of awful reviews of scams online. Wish I'd seen those before!

Yes, it was a "guaranteed quote price" which they even advertise prominently on their website. Unfortunately a quick Google has uncovered countless other customers who've been swindled in exactly the same way! Why didn't I check Google!!
