Waay overdue, not specifically avoiding it but not finding the time either.

Decided to phone the surgery and they have sorted me an appointment in a few hours!

Just thought i would post this to give a gentle nudge to anyone else who might be in the same boat, and putting it off! Especially with all thats going on with covid, its important to remember that essential services like smear tests are still happening!

Good post! My was delayed during the first lockdown but managed an appointment in October.

I am also way overdue, like 5 years overdue... Blush I've moved a few times so changed doctors and it fell off my radar.

Thanks for the reminder, I'll make an appointment today.

Good reminder, I got a letter recently. I remember my aunt saying years ago she wishes she could wear a mask for it - looks like that one has come true.

Me too, it's in a couple of weeks. Drs very much are doing them but you need to get past the troll gatekeeper (aka receptionist) the practice manager can even book evening appointments I discovered, didn't even know they did evening clinics!

Good point and helpfully a gentle nudge for anyone who has forgotten!

I always phone for an appointment as soon as the letter comes through as it slips my mind otherwise for months.

Thank you !
It's been on the "to do" list far too long !

I am a little bit overdue, dd and I were only talking about this yesterday as she is booked in for one next week, I am going to wait until I have had 'the jab' Grin I'm over 50 and it looks like I might well get the jab by end of March, I will then spend end of April trying to catch up on overdue medical stuff, blood tests and the like, I think I am also due a mammogram this year, not something I ever miss.

Just back from the appointment now, was a more pleasant experience than i was expecting!

Not in terms of the actual smear although it wasnt painful and over quickly, bit the nurse was lovely, really put me at ease which makes such a difference!

Now to snuggle up with a hot water bottle (a light hearted tip from me... Slightly overplay how bad it is and my dp gets a bit awkward and then fusses over me. I dont encourage him, but i dont tell him not to either... 😂)

Went last week , was a very quick appointment and possibly one of the easiest ones I've had to date.

If you need one - GO !
Bumping in hope .

ScottishStottie · 12/02/2021 12:38

Aw @gotthetshirt23 m glad it was a good experience! Now hopefuly your bump will nudge someone else to book and the nudges continue!

I got another reminder today....I hate them...I can't believe in 2021 they can't do this test another way. I will go, I always do....eventually but it is with every fibre screaming along the way....

ItsIgginningtolooklikelockdown · 12/02/2021 12:47

Well I've done my smear a few weeks ago and now have the joy of my first bowel screening - bring back the smear!

Gotthetshirt23 · 21/02/2021 20:15

Had my results mid week , very surprised as was told 4/5 weeks , all good , will be 3 years for the next one .

If you are due or have missed it , book it , please ?
