Weird burny pain in leg

Any idea what this is...I have a weird burning type feeling in one leg. Outer lower thigh, above my knee.

Its been there about 2 weeks now. It looks fine but it's such a weird feeling. A tender feeling and last night it woke me cos it felt like burning.

I've consulted Doctor Google but not found out much. Hoping someone recognises this!

Sounds a bit like sciatica. I have it and it doesn't always cause back pain.
I get a burning feeling, or numbness

Hmm I have been sitting on a hard dining chair for the best part of the year (home working) maybe this is the consequence.

Google mentioned sciatica but it said back of the leg whereas this is more side.

If you’re worried of course speak to a gp, but I’ve just had this, felt it for a few weeks so thought I should comment. I was worried I had a clot or something sinister so went to my gp for a check up. Gp had a look and feel of my leg and asked some questions and believed I had a bruised nerve, from sitting in an awkward position whilst working from home. I was prescribed some pain relief for nerve pain and have changed up my position and thankfully it’s gone!

May not be the same with you of course.

Please do not ignore it. Hopefully it’ll be something simple and easy to fix, but having had more than a couple of DVTs myself, pain in the leg needs to be spoken to a doctor about.

If you start feeling breathless or tight chested, call an ambulance straight away.

BejeweledCrocs · 26/01/2021 22:20

Thanks @Sofetikal. I'm not especially worried and dont want to bother the doctor about it. It probably is a result of sitting for hours in a silly chair (and all the weight I've put on).

Sciatica I had it in the front of my calf felt like my leg was in front of a gas fire. Did go off but took time tablets and lots of stretching.

Itb band?

Google meralgia parasthetica and see if it sounds like that. I had it a while ago, it did resolve on its own, I also sometimes get sciatica. If I am more careful with my back and do pilates regularly it I feel better.

Please don't think you're bothering the doctor, it's always worth asking when you have a strange pain, they may have advice.

It woke me at night too! Really intense for a few days, co-codamol was the only painkiller that even touched it, then did some exercises the GP/internet recommended and it got better...maybe would have resolved on its own.

Ooh it could very well be that @Shirtyllama. That mentions weight gain being a cause, and lockdown has meant I've gone up a dress size. Thanks!
