Listening to Classic FM, I found myself humming along to Sicilienne by Fauré.

I’m sure it was used as a TV theme tune, but for the life of me I can’t remember which one - and it seems half the internet are in the same predicament!

Can anyone help?

It’s this one

I’m sure it was a period detective show. Like Poirot, but not.

Not one I recognise. You aren't mixing it up with Danse Macabre? (Jonathan Creek)

It has whiff of Midsummer Murders theme tune to it. And a bit Jonathan Creek. It does sound like it could be a murder drama and probably one that I've seen but maybe because they remind me of the these two.

Classic FM plays this tune a lot. Maybe that's why I'm thinking 'I've heard it somewhere'. It's actually the song from Chuck's funeral in Better Call Saul (I had to look that up!). Funnily enough, I know the song so well, but don't recall actually hearing it in Better Call Saul.

Rosemary and Thyme theme. It's mashed up in there .

LunaNorth · 26/01/2021 22:56

Replies! Thank you!

I’ve never seen Better Call Saul, so it’s not that.
It does sound a bit like Danse Macabre, but I knew that was the Jonathan Creek theme.
I never saw Rosemary and Thyme, but I’m sure the programme I’m thinking of was around that time.
It’s so annoying!

It reminds me of the theme music to The Doctor Blake Mysteries too

Sicilienne was just played on Radio3 and I also remember it as a children's programme. I looked it up and eventually got an answer, and while I was saw you needed one although you posted a private video I am unable to see.

It's The Little Silver Trumpet from 1980. I don't remember the name or watching it but I clearly did. https://liberalengland.blogspot.com/2023/08/a-silver-trumpet-was-television.html?m=1

I'm neither a mum nor female but saw you needed an answer.

A Little Silver Trumpet was the television programme that used Fauré's Sicilienne as its theme

In July 2012 I went to a recital in St Laurence's. Church Stretton, that was part of the town's arts festival. One of the pieces I heard pla...
