Equivalent of flowers for a man

What would be a gift along the same lines as flowers for a man who wouldn’t appreciate flowers as a gift?

It’s mine and DPs 5yr anniversary (not married) so we don’t normally bother with gifts, just got for a nice meal or something but obviously covid. Don’t want to buy anything too extravagant but also don’t want to get nothing when I have a suspicion I’ll get a flower delivery so I was just wondering what would be the ‘male equivalent’ (for a man who wouldn’t appreciate flowers, would be much easier if he would and we had more than one vase Grin)

I get my DH wine or gin usually when I know that I’ll be getting flowers

Does he like any plants? How about a cactus?
Otherwise beer, drink of choice, fancy coffee, chocolate?

Cheesypea · 26/01/2021 20:54

A plant?

partyatthepalace · 26/01/2021 20:54

Yeah, booze.
Or a fancy cook at home restaurant meal / takeaway

GeidiPrimes · 26/01/2021 20:58

A pony!

GenevaMaybe · 26/01/2021 20:58

Blow job

LegendDairy · 26/01/2021 20:59

Sex voucher

hazeydays14 · 26/01/2021 20:59

He has patience for any plants, even low maintenance ones 😂
We’ve got dinner planned already so wouldn’t feel like a gift

Probably go with a bottle of gin, it’s all he really drinks so he had a fair few bottles for Christmas 😅
Thanks for your suggestions!

I think it's a bit sad to think booze is the only thing to buy a man.

What about a subscription to a magazine he might like or membership of a club or society?

hazeydays14 · 26/01/2021 21:04

I see what you mean Netball, he’s an awkward sod mind who doesn’t enjoy reading (listens to podcasts and music which he already has subscriptions for)
I’d like to book a day doing some kind of activity but I’ve already lost out with things being cancelled so I’m reluctant and an IOU doesn’t seem enough 😬

Sorry but blow jobs and sex aren’t reserved for special occasions Hmm

a book?

mellicauli · 26/01/2021 21:08

sorry just saw he doesn't like reading..audible?

BarryWhiteIsMyBrother · 26/01/2021 21:09

How about a chocolate bouquet?

NetballHoop · 26/01/2021 21:09

Would he like a kit to build/grow/brew something?

My DH has got into wine making after I bought him a vine.

PolkadotsAndMoonbeams · 26/01/2021 21:11

Remote-controlled car.

PolkadotsAndMoonbeams · 26/01/2021 21:13

Actually, traditionally it's wood. Would a wooden pencil pot appeal if he's working from home?

AmandaHoldensLips · 26/01/2021 21:15

Sex pants.

NiceGerbil · 26/01/2021 21:15

Mine likes flowers luckily!

If he usually gets you decent flowers they are bloody expensive so you have quite a range!

Chocs is the obvious or another thing he likes eg really fancy biscuits or something. Mine likes Xmas puds!

Plant is a good one.

I'm terrible at presents have no idea why I'm posting!

Also yuck to the idea that men don't do romance and women don't do sex, which is the basis of the blowjob type answers. Grim.

Plenty of men are v romantic and plenty of women like sex. Unbelievable isn't it!

Stompythedinosaur · 26/01/2021 21:21

The male version of flowers is flowers! They aren't a gendered item.

hazeydays14 · 26/01/2021 21:25

I like the idea of a chocolate bouquet as being ‘equivalent’ to flowers, maybe I’ll have a go at DIY-ing one with all his fave snacks

Yes to the sex comments being grim 🙄

I agree plenty of men would love flowers/ plants, mine wouldn’t! I did try to make that clear in the first post.

A shirt or tee-shirt?
Would he appreciate some fancy bath stuff - Molton Brown or Occitane?

katy1213 · 26/01/2021 21:28

Cheese.
