What toys do your five-year-old boys love to play with?

My son’s birthday is in a week and whilst I have pre bought and wrapped quite a few goodies I’d love some more ideas if possible.

Budget up to £30. Things he likes are cars, magnetic sets, construction stuff. He’s really into school work at the moment so possibly something educational.

What age?

We bought my 5 year old DS Kapla blocks for his birthday and he loves them (as do the rest of the family!). He uses them as ‘planks’ for his construction vehicles, to build things, bury things etc. I wish we’d discovered them before wit my older 3 boys.

My eldest is 5.5 and he loves Lego, brio trains, magformers, marble runs, paw patrol, magic tracks and hot wheels 🙂

Wooden trains, or a car transporter for all his cars.

Lego, and the surprise recent hit of subbuteo (mainly to organise the players)

Blackboard/easel? We got my son a play kitchen at around that age because he always made a beeline for it in the toyshop. Wooden road set, or road play mat/carpet?
