Covid test when already had it

Namechanged for this as potentially a bit identifying.

We had Covid about 2.5 months ago - DS then had a temperature about a month later (!!!), and I didn't realise the guidance was not to test again so soon after, as the PCR might well pick up remaining bits of virus. Anyway, that one came back negative.

However, he now has a cough which I think is probably edging towards needing to be classified as "continuous", as we're onto bout 3 of 24 hours. Do any HCPs out there know - if he's had a negative result SINCE actual Covid, presumably it's worth getting him tested as we get a negative back - rather than doing the advised post-covid thing of just self-isolating for 10 days an no test?

Hope this makes sense....a bit up to here with it all, as you may imagine Grin Really grateful for any knowledgeable advice....
