Teenage boys’ coats on a shoestring budget

GeorgieTheGorgeousGoat · 25/01/2021 20:30

I need to buy my two teenagers a warm winter coat each for a little as possible. Does anyone have any ideas of good value (aka cheap as money is tight!) places to look? Probably men’s sizes to be honest as they are 17 & 15. I have a next directory account I was going to buy them from but they are about £80 each for a cheapy one. Thanks.

Ebay

WeDontTalkAboutLove · 25/01/2021 20:31

Ebay!

smoothchange · 25/01/2021 20:33

I wouldn't go to eBay but maybe ASDA or sports direct?

Decathlon

I’ve had some good stuff for my sons from here
www.mandmdirect.com/01/kids/half-price?hpmain3
They do adult stuff too

What's your budget?

Mountain warehouse have some fleece lined aki jackets reduced to £35, or some thicker padded ones for £55.

Chicchicchicchiclana · 25/01/2021 20:34

I've got a beautiful Zara coat, black, hooded, fleece lined, hardly worn. Men's size M. My tall skinny 16 year old was wearing it last year, now he feels he needs a Uniqlo puffer jacket so the coat has been made redundant. Am selling for £25, pm me if you want more details.

CalmDownBoris72 · 25/01/2021 20:36

Uniqlo ultra light down would be my suggestion.

StealthRoast · 25/01/2021 20:36

I was going to say Primark op but the shops aren’t open and I’m pretty sure you can’t order online.

If you can get the Next ones as a last resort with the best payment plan available ie is there a “buy now pay later” with no interest or similar?

Also Sports Direct have loads of coats. I got my 17yr old ds an Under Armour one in the autumn it was under £50.

Lastly, take a look at Boohoo men. You will be pleasantly surprised by both the choice and the cost. Ds went to NY last February with college and I totally kitted him out in warm clothes for under £100. I would say this is your best bet. Good luck Smile

Nopreservatives · 25/01/2021 20:36

Do you? I have 17 and 19 yo and they haven't worn anything resembling a warm winter coat for about 5 years. Do they want warm coats? Will they wear them?

If you do, then yes, look at Ebay. There must be loads of barely worn teenage boys' coats.

UnityUnited · 25/01/2021 20:37

Primary or Matalan.

UnityUnited · 25/01/2021 20:38

Primark.

Itsokthanks · 25/01/2021 20:38

Go outdoors, decathlon or mountain wearhouse are good value for money and have some low priced waterproof jackets that could be worn with a hoody to keep warm.

What's wrong with ebay?

All the coats in this house are second hand off ebay - it's brilliant and you can get some really lovely ones for a bargain.

I actually didn't say there was anything wrong with it.

That's great. I'm absolutely delighted for you all.

formerbabe · 25/01/2021 20:40

Ebay, sports direct or if it was open, Primark

NotMeNoNo · 25/01/2021 20:41

Trespass, find them in the sale. Parka and Ski jacket sections. Or M&M direct.

NotMeNoNo · 25/01/2021 20:51

Agree Sports Direct maybe cheapest, one of their brands like Slazenger, they are about £25 IIRC and you can always put an extra jumper with them.

needadvice54321 · 25/01/2021 20:55

TK Maxx? ASOS?

JohnMiddleNameRedactedSwanson · 25/01/2021 20:58

The Debenhams website has a lot of coats heavily discounted at the moment but you will have to be quick.

LubaLuca · 25/01/2021 21:01

Boohoo is similar in quality and price to Primark. There are often codes for further reductions or free delivery too. You could get them a coat for under £20 I'm sure.
