WWYD - moving house Wednesday and have COVID

Someone help Confused

We’re moving Wednesday, and in true ‘me’ style, I left all of the packing until the last minute, which would have been fine, only I started feeling unwell 3days ago, shortly followed by DH. Both positive for COVID yesterday.

We are really feeling so poorly, we can barely get out of bed (my LG has had far too much screen time the past few days, we’ve all been confined to the bed and living off super noodles and I feel terrible about it)

I can’t for the life of me work out what we should do about moving. The house we’re moving to is empty, but someone will be moving in to this place in 6 days time.

Haven’t even began packing, can’t work out how to do it as neither of us have the energy. Waiting on a reply from the estate agent but I just can’t see a way round it.

WWYD?!

I think the estate agent should be able to come up with something, there's nothing really for you to decide - you have to stay there until your self isolation has finished Thanks

Also I should add, we’ve paid rent up until the 27th on here and already paid all our upfront rent on the new place. If we stay here, even under the estate agents advice, we haven’t really got money to spend on more rent on this place, unless we get some back from the new place Sad

Crap. Personally I think I'd see if I could either delay everything 2wks. Or, arrange an overlap, so move, leave everything in the 'old' house a couple of days to decontaminate, and get family /pay someone to pack it all up and get it to you/put it in storage for a couple of weeks.

Personally if you are so unwell I would ask to delay move for two-four weeks if at all possible. Some people i know have got over it within a week but others haven taken a good two weeks or more to start feeling better.
Hope you feel better soon OP.

You’ll have to postpone

You can hire movers to assist with packing etc when you’re no longer contagious

TierFourTears · 25/01/2021 20:08

You cant move house when isolating.
You need to phone the estate agent tomorrow and get things postponed until isolation finishes 10 days after symptoms started for DH (or your toddler if they become ill in the next 7 days).
Hope you feel better soon.

davidsSchitt · 25/01/2021 20:12

You needed to tell them 3 days ago! But tomorrow will have to do. You can't leave the house so you can't move Wednesday

Moorhens · 25/01/2021 20:15

Have you already exchanged? Before in covid people were advising to exchange and complete on same day to stop people being committed to sales and it falling through

toocold54 · 25/01/2021 20:30

As you’ve tested positive I would ring the estate agents/new people and explain you need to isolate. The new people should be more than happy with this - unless they need to be out on their end.
