When to retake test after early loss?

Hello again,
Found out I was pregnant only a couple of days ago (4 weeks according to last period) and confirmed by a few home tests.

Began bleeding today (not sure if will develop quite into full blown usual period but definitely more than spotting) with a mild dragging/heavy feeling in lower belly. I'm a realist/pessimist so am assuming early miscarriage/"chemical pregnacy" as never experienced this in my 3x previous healthy pregnancies.

I realise a doctor would laugh me out of their office, as it's so early and common, and not want to see me for any further tests etc.

My question is... how long do I wait to retake a home test to confirm my hcg levels have gone down/disappeared (get a negative result) as I'm not sure how long the hormone sticks around.

Just dont enjoy this feeling of "limbo" and want to make sure it's all gone away naturally if that's what's happening. Dont want to retest too soon and see "pregnant" still and cause confusion/false hope.

Any advice from those who've experienced this at 4 weeks most welcome x

Please don’t just assume it’s a miscarriage - I had a very similar situation and it was an ectopic pregnancy. If you’ve had a positive test and are now bleeding you should definitely speak to a GP, they won’t laugh at all.

Thank you, just called before they closed tonight on your advice. I'm to wait 10 days to retest at home and look out for any heavy bleeds or increasing pain. Waiting game now. Not sure if to put feet up or carry on being up and about/active, suppose whatever will be will be, regardless of amount of movement etc!

Bless you, it’s so tough. Glad you called for advice - definitely familiarise yourself with ectopic symptoms just in case. Is the bleeding quite heavy? I do know women who’ve had a fair amount of bleeding in early pregnancy where it wasn’t a miscarriage, it doesn’t always mean something awful but I’m not sure if that helps to know this. Sending hugs to you.

Day 2 of bleeding today, Its probably covering a pad only half as much as my usual period would but does have a few tiny clots (from poppy seed to apple seed sort of size) I have been sitting more than usual so that might be why it's taking time to come on fully.

It's just nice to be able to acknowledge what's going on, easier with unknown people who have some personal experience in these matters, so thanks for stopping by to leave a message Smile
