She has apparently decided that people should be restricted to going shopping once a week only.
Amazing how people (who ought to know better) just assume that everyone has access to a car or nearby family or internet shopping. Plenty of people actually have to carry their shopping home. I would like to see her manage.
No doubt she still has her ‘live in’ hairdresser too!!

Don't forget the Biscuit when you do your weekly shop!

Whatwouldscullydo · 24/01/2021 20:42

Won't that just mean everyone is in there fir longer and they all pile in at the weekend?

Redglitter · 24/01/2021 20:47

Its ridiculous. Im lucky in that my Mum doesn't have to go shopping. I do a weekly online shop and its delivered to her. However her sister (who is 78) has no WiFi at home, no family nearby doesn't drive and has to do her own shopping. Shes reduced the amount she goes out but still has to rely on going out a few times a week. Im sure lots of people are in the same position

@Redglitter does your aunt live within 10 miles of Morrison’s store, if so she can phone up the Morrison’s door step delivery service thing and order for next day delivery. My nan manages to do it so it must be relatively easy. It’s free for the elderly. my.morrisons.com/doorstep-deliveries/

Is there a source for this?

*So I want to take a moment today, to set out some of the key points that will help all of us to stay safe, when we are shopping. And many of these points people send in emails to me if they perceive that these things are not always being followed when they are out shopping. So it is a moment just to remind people of all the things you should be doing to keep yourself and others safe if you are going to a supermarket, a butchers, a bakers shop or even just your local corner shop.

Firstly, try to limit the number of times that you go shopping, right now. So if you in normal times went shopping two or three times a week see if you limit that to just once a week just now. Where possible, order online.

If you do go to a shop, and it’s busy – don’t go in, try somewhere else, or decide to go back at a less busy time.*
