Watched Finding Alice and was underwhelmed. Loved Broadchurch, Marchlands, Lightfields. Recommend me something please!

Is anyone else finding that there's bugger all of any decent calibre to watch at the moment? I did watch Finding Alice, but my enjoyment was marred by the main character's narcissism and stupidity.

Enjoyed The Bodyguard, Line of Duty, The Secret of Crickley Hall, Haunting of Hill House/Bly Manor, Orphan Black....all the Netflix stalwarts.

Can anyone recommend any gems that I might have missed? I need to disappear into something for a few hours....

Bancroft. I'm always late to TV shows but loved this so much. I'm starting the second series later.
Shetland.
Endeavour.

Guilt. It's set in Edinburgh. Blackly comedic. 2 brothers, one hit and run, lots of consequences as it all unravels. It's on iPlayer. Oh, and it has a great soundtrack.

Hinterland

HerBigChance · 24/01/2021 17:01

The Bay (ITV Hub)

I've seen most of those, but don't think I've seen Guilt! Off to google it now Smile

Guilt looks great and I don't think we've seen it - mentioned it to DH and he piped up "Oh yes, we've seen that". He ALWAYS does this, grrr, and he's usually wrong Angry but he won't want to watch it now!

Yea to hinterland! We binge watched The Serpent this week.... absolutely bloody brilliant 🐍

frantic17 · 24/01/2021 19:58

It's a sin on Channel 4. So powerful, I have binge watched 5 episodes today.

Bairnsmum05 · 24/01/2021 20:00

They are filming the next series of Guilt near my work but I haven't watched it yet. Good to put on the list 😊 have you tried Traces, Shetland?

H1978 · 24/01/2021 20:02

Unforgotten. It’s on Netflix and itv hub.

DrinkRefilled · 24/01/2021 20:04

I thought Finding Alice was going to be a gripping who dunnit but after watching 2 & a half episodes I physically can’t stand to watch anymore.
Bizarre acting & story line . Boring episodes. Doesn’t seem to be going anywhere.

Hels20 · 24/01/2021 20:08

Unforgettable and Queens Gambit - both on Netflix.

Hels20 · 24/01/2021 20:09

Happy Valley too - I avoided it for ages and then when I finally watched it - loved it! On ITV hub I think and also BritBox and Netflix

HazelBite · 24/01/2021 20:13

Happy Valley (2) is even better than the first one

SlightlyJaded · 24/01/2021 20:13

Marcella was surprisingly watchable.
The Serpent - definitely! Just brilliant.
Unforgotten is ok - not Broadchurch - but pretty good.
One of Us was quite good

Love a good Brit crime noir.

We were talking about when 'Prime Suspect' was pretty much the only good crime drama and you had to wait a week between episodes. It really set the bar high I think.

midsomermurderess · 24/01/2021 20:26

I gave Traces a good shot but it's just didn't work for me. It was interesting to see something set in and around Dundee though, makes a change.

FlatteredRhubardFool · 25/01/2021 21:58

I've just started Bay and am liking it. I binge watched the second and sadly final season of Bancroft last night. It was gripping and I thought the acting was excellent. Bay is completely different so far but I like it. I can't wait for more Shetland and Endeavour as they are probably my favourites.

pradamarda · 25/01/2021 22:43

I agree, the serpent was brilliant
