Your fave slow cooker recipes?!

I am VERY late to the party.

I have just treated myself to a slow cooker. Today i am making beef, in the hope it turns out okay as I can never cook beef.

It's a bizarre feeling just popping something in the slow cooker and then leaving it...... I seem to have so much time on my hands all of a sudden!

I'd love some fail safe fool proof ideas - and family friendly also as my eldest DC is very very fussy.

I suspect this is about to change my life... ;)

Pulled pork goes down well around here. I'm vegetarian so can't personally vouch for it but teens and DH love it. Pork joint minus fat and crackling ( keep to add to midweek roast), cheap supermarket BBQ sauce, slosh of cider vinegar and Worcester sauce, paprika, garlic, sliced onion, bit of mustard, paprika. Add enough stock to cover. Five hours later serve with soft rolls, reduce the liquid to make BBQ sauce again. Add slaw and wedges and veggies for meSmile

Ooh! I have never ever done pulled pork. [writes notes]

DH is vegetarian. I was wondering about cooking a bean chilli in it.

This is my own recipe but super delicious ... 500g of mince beef 3 beef stock - 250 ml water 2 cans of chopped tomatoes 3-4celery sticks 4-5chopped carrots 4-5 large chopped potatoes into 4 chunks 1 onion (or 2 up to you) 1 tsp french mustard 1 Tbs Worcestershire sauce 1 tsp salt 2 tsp ground pepper 1 tbs gravy granules (or more if you fancy it, just to thicken it up) 1 tsp Oregano 1tsp thyme

Brown off mince in pan and drain off oils before placing in slow cooker
Chop all veg and add to slow cooker
Add chopped tomatoes
Add all the herbs and salt and pepper
Add the stock to 250 ml of boiling water, pour it into slow cooker.
Put on high and cook for 4 hours - 5 hours.
Voila. You have a delicious healthy beef stew! Nice with some crusty bread if you're super hungry!

Most meals you cook in oven can be cooked in the slow cooker by just reducing the amount of fluid.
Also if you need something thickening take the lid off, pop on high for 30 minutes.

Spanish chicken:

1 chicken breast per person, chopped
1 onion, chopped
1 red pepper, chopped (or mixed peppers)
1 courgette, sliced
100ml red wine
Few slices of chorizo or mini chorizo sausages
1 carton passata
1 tsp sweet paprika
Good sprinkle of mixed herbs
Salt & pepper
Add chilli flakes if you like spice

Put everything in the slow cooker, stir, cover & cook on low for about 6 hours. Serve with crusty bread or some baby new potatoes roasted with ground salt, herbs & onion granules.
