I’ve never really been sure, and I’m half a bottle of wine in so give me your thoughts mumsnet.

What colour are my eyes?

@SparklePiggy I've always wondered what the genetic code is for those that don't have either blue or brown eyes. I seem to remember learning the dominant gene etc in school and thought that everyone was either some form of blue or brown. I really couldn't place yours in either camp!

Green/grey

SparklePiggy · 23/01/2021 23:08

Snap bigcheese! One parent and sibling are clearly blue, the other parent And sibling are definite chocolate browns. I feel like I'm in no mans land of eyes!

From middle to outer, honey/hazel colour to light-yellow-green to grey-green

Labobo · 23/01/2021 23:24

OP - grey - gorgeous, unusual colour.

SparklePiggy · 23/01/2021 23:33

Thank you Labobo they’ve always seemed a bit meh to me without being able to put them in a colour box. I find eyes fascinating in general though.

They're like my DS2s eyes. A weird grey/blue/green hybrid depending on the light.
DH, DS1 and I all have brown eyes, but DS2 takes after my brother and an uncle, both of whom were born into brown eye dominant families. DS2 is a dead ringer for my brother at the same age, so it's some strong genes there.

SparklePiggy · 24/01/2021 07:58

Isn’t it interesting that there’s one for every generation of the family Eggy that goes off piste!

Lovely grey.
2nd poster is hazel.
Ds2 was born with gorgeous chocolate brown eyes which at 4yo are now slowly turning hazel, like mine.

ShinyGreenElephant · 24/01/2021 10:18

@SparklePiggy grey/green and @Hurtandupset2 hazel, very similar to mine and my DD2s. DD1 has the clearest, brightest green eyes I've ever seen outside of coloured contacts, no idea where they came from!

It's much more complicated than that, with numerous genes involved.

OP I'd say green, but I'd like to see pics with you wearing different colours.

My dad has those Irish green eyes that reflect what he is wearing, if you see him in a blue jumper you would swear they are blue.

They are very similar to my DDs although she has a bit more brown around the pupil, she has the dark blue ring as well. Somedays her eyes look grey and others nearer blue
