Can anyone recommend a printer with an enlarge function please.

Hi I'm looking for a printer that will photocopy with an enlarge function.
I need to enlarge the school worksheets for my son with visual impairment. Amazon don't seem to give that information. All searches I have done have recommended printers that are obsolete.

Has anyone bought one in the past year or so that they recommend?

Many thanks

If you're just looking at a small inkjet, anything that scans will allow you to enlarge a section even if it doesn't have a setting on the printer itself.

Can’t you scan the worksheet into your computer then enlarge it there and print it out on any old printer? Your phone should scan documents so you don’t need anything fancy.

@Doyoumind - that's what I thought however, the one I bought last week allows me to enlarge in the print setting but then just prints the left hand size of the sheet larger, with no way of enlarging the left hand side, and I can't edit the sheets sent by school on the PC.
I want to be able to print, then enlarge the bits I need immediately, so really would like a printer with that facility. My old one did and I assumed they all would.

Thank you so much for replying though.

It's a lot of sheets per day - I have 3 children 1 needs everything enlarged, the others need some of them, we have about 25 - 30 sheets per day and I'm working full time from home, just looking for the quickest, easiest option. I know it's not great for the environment, Just hoping someone has a printer with the function I need. Thank you for your help though.

Have you been in touch with the school? My job is in VI support. During the lockdown, it was my responsibility to reproduce all the work for my VI student as they had a full ECHP and the school had a duty to ensure that no child is disadvantaged from accessing work based on a disability. Inclusion is a very big deal, your school should be sourcing this work for you. As I’m sure you’re aware, when you enlarge things they tend to pixelate and lose definition making it very difficult to see at the best of times, school should be providing you with what you need!
Have you been in touch with them?

TheChosenTwo · 23/01/2021 12:06

Sorry, EHCP, it always comes out wrong!

Surely it would be best to buy a A3 printer? Then you could enlarge A4 to A3 in one go without messing around?

Obviously It's going to cost more but will be really useful

PanannyPanoo · 23/01/2021 12:46

Thank you so much - the school are happy to supply the sheets, but would just be doing what I can at home and would mean a daily trip to collect them.

A3 printer is a good idea. Thank you so much.

I was just hoping there was an A4 one that could do the job, as an A3 printer won't fit on the desk and the work wouldn't fit in his folder.

Do you have the snipping tool (in windows accessories)?
You can snip the bit you want, paste it into a word document and then drag the corner out to enlarge it.

Hi op I have a canon ts5000 that let's you scale up to 400%.

When you print you go to properties (beside printer name) - then page set up - select scaled - enter the % of scaling.

BejeweledCrocs · 23/01/2021 13:12

Oh exact model is canon ts5051

BejeweledCrocs · 23/01/2021 13:18

Here's the instructions

TheChosenTwo · 23/01/2021 13:43

Blimey, I spend 20+ hours a week totallly reformatting work but then it all got dropped off on their doorstep on a Friday evening ready for the week ahead.
When you work from home, you just need everything ready for them don’t you?
Anyway, I really hope you find a workable solution op!

Clymene · 23/01/2021 13:46

Mine does. It's a Brother colour laserjet so not cheap and the inks are cripplingly expensive. I can give you the details if you want tho

Clymene · 23/01/2021 13:49

I think it's copying and enlarging that the OP wants rather than printing larger. Mine copies up to 400% - it's the snappily named Brother DCP-L3550CDW

BejeweledCrocs · 23/01/2021 14:14

Ah yes I think you are right @Clymene

PanannyPanoo · 23/01/2021 16:02

Thank you so much for your help. Annoyingly I also have a very weird cat who likes to chew the corners of paper. So a top feed one is just too much temptation! The Brother one looks goos - enormous bus good ! Thank you so much.
I've resigned myself to it being an expensive few months! It will be worth it if i can get stuff done in the least amount of time possible, at the moment time is of most value.
