Dreams - can any interpret recurring dreams?

I dream most nights and although the details of the dreams change I basically have the same 3 dreams over and over:

I'm on a plane and something goes wrong (I've had glide land, water ditching, crash land in the jungle)

I'm a child again living with my parents. Somethings I'm small, sometimes I'm a teenager.

I'm having a passionate affair/new relationship - with DH!

I dream a variation of these dreams every night. What is going on in my head BlushConfused

The plane - out of control?
You as a child - back to when you felt safe, a simpler time?
DH - need for excitement?

mayaknew · 23/01/2021 18:23

Mmm could be. Should say the plane one has been going on for years. The other two are more recent. Like in the last year maybe.

Plane- the feeling that life is unpredictable and just beyond your control. Do you land safely? Are you taking charge or being swept along?

Child- could be a sense of not having control over your life, of being stuck in patterns rooted in your past, or a desire to be taken care of

Affair with dh- how’s your sex life now?

GreenSlide · 23/01/2021 18:46

Plane - you're riding high in life and just waiting for something to bring you back down to earth with a crash.

GeidiPrimes · 23/01/2021 18:54

The first 2 I think both relate to feeling out of control over something. I used to have similar when my life was on much less of an even keel than it is now.

The last one, I'm not so sure. Possibly that you would like more excitement (new relationships and affairs are exciting) from your DH?

mayaknew · 23/01/2021 20:30

Sex life isn't great at the moment my sex drive is shit. I'm always right up for it in my dreams but irl I'm not. I dont really feel good about myself at the minute if I'm honest.

The control thing is very interesting.... thats really something to think about as when I think about it I really feel like I've lost control on pretty much everything. I've not really thought about that before actually.

To dream of an airplane crashing represents a loss of momentum, progress, or confidence. Plans or projects that you thought would work suddenly fail.

If you haven't checked out dream Bible, do it. I really like it. I have bonkers dreams and it usually takes sense.

LApprentiSorcier · 23/01/2021 20:38

You might enjoy a book called 'The Top 100 Dreams' by Ian Wallace - it covers a lot of common recurring dreams. I was interested to read that most of my recurring dreams have universal themes. It includes interpretations, although I didn't personally rate those very highly. It's available on Kindle.

Mine is that I find a new room in The house I’m living in and come across a new room that isreally run down and needs renovating. Often I put a new pool in it.
We do not have a pool in RL or a room that needs doing up!

Yes, me too. Normally several new rooms. It's a very common dream

Is there an area of personal development or an area of your life that you feel is lacking?

mayaknew · 23/01/2021 22:45

I've had the new room dream too! Not recurring though just once or twice.

I love dream interpretation. I must get a book.

I had the new room one after I'd moved into my flat. I suspect it was quite literal in that it was a small flat, I wanted more, so my dreaming brain gave me one.

My other one is needing the loo but only finding dirty or very public toilets which I suspect is my brain stopping me from weeing the bed!

BIWI · 23/01/2021 22:58

The new room one signals unfulfilled potential, I believe. I've had that one several times, and it's always fantastic when you're dreaming it, but such a disappointment when you wake up!

LegoAndLolDolls · 23/01/2021 23:00

I have new room in my childhood house and it's either a very muti layered basement or a loo.

I have lots of dreams every night. The dh one is definitely that something is lacking to fulfil your relationship right now.

I have the plane crash one. How do you feel before you crash? I'm always regretting getting on the plane. So taking risk.

Any loo dream means my bladder is full!

bluetongue · 24/01/2021 05:24

My recurring dream is packing for a trip and I can’t find any of the clothes I want to take or they’re dirty. A variation of this is that I get to my destination and realise I’ve forgotten to pack important items, often skis and ski boots for ski trip (I do ski in real life). The weird thing about these dreams that makes them extra realistic is that I think to myself in the dream ‘oh my god this is just like the dreams I have all the time’.

thelegohooverer · 24/01/2021 20:06

@mayaknew do you think that it’s your self esteem that’s affecting your sex drive? (I don’t know if you’ve ruled out other causes like hormones, side effects of anti-ds, etc). It strikes me that your dream about the affair might be about seeking affirmation.

It might help (as long as I’m analysis of your dreams I’ll throw out more unsolicited advice) to start having a little affair with yourself. Buy yourself some flowers or chocolates, cook yourself a nice meal, pay yourself a compliment when you pass a mirror or just give your reflection a big smile. I know it sounds bonkers but it really does help shift things out of the rut when you start treating yourself more like a lover instead of bullying yourself with snarky put downs (which is what most people do).
