No, not least of all because they require the offender to admit to the offence.

In theory, absolutely not.

In practice, sometimes if you’re very clueless you can miss the significance of what’s going on in the heat of the moment and not realise until it pops up on your DBS record.

...and the offender has to explicitly accept the caution (as well as any conditions that go along with it, if relevant) by signing a form setting it all out.
