How many nappies is usual for a FF one year olds?

My DS does 3-4 dirty nappies a day still. Is this normal? It seems a lot. Usually 3 and usually the first two are immediately after breakfast and then a little while later.
I spoke to the health visitor but they were vague about what’s normal and mainly talked about how BF babies have more dirty nappies, but he’s always been FF.
He’s gaining weight fine, nappies aren’t explosive or oddly coloured or anything in fact some are quite small, so I just wondered if he’s just a pooer Grin

The only thing is they smell really bad - which obviously dirty nappies are going to as he’s my first I don’t know what’s normal or not.

anyone? He's done four already today :-/ I'm worried he should be going a lot less! He's eating a lot more, seems to be in a growth spurt, so I was wondering if it could be that

Hi! If it helps my DS is over 2 and still does 3 to 4 a day. Paediatrician cant find any reason why. It isnt diarrhoea, it's just a lot of shit!

I sympathise.

@OhToBeASeahorse thank you! He’s always done a fair amount of dirty nappies but GP isn’t interested as he’s putting on weight.
Today we’ve now had five although this isn’t usual and I think he’s teething as we have all the other signs too.

The only thing that’s worrying me is the rate food must be going through him! But I guess he must be absorbing a decent amount of what he needs if he’s growing ok.

I used to joke that ds2's nappies were a 'prize every time' as they were! Grin
I was concerned too but nobody else was.
I will warn you though, that despite very frequent changes, it didn't stop the severe nappy rash he suffered with. I took him to the drs several times for that, he used to bleed it was so bad Sad. Tried every treatment under the sun. Then one day a health visitor advised a cheapo £1 pot of zinc and castor oil and that finally sorted the problem out.

Oh your poor DS! Thank you for the tip I’ll get some ready just incase.
They don’t seem to bother him, he used to have bad wind but that’s stopped now.
He seems to find dairy disagreeable but isn’t allergic and it’s definitely worse when teething!
A prize is definitely one way to describe them! Grin

My one year old often has several dirty nappies a day when he is well (and more if he's teething!). Usually not explosive or anything, just a lot of poop! He is happy, healthy, eats well and is meeting milestones and I am not worried. His sister has allergies and she also had a lot of dirty nappies and suffered awful nappy rash and was pretty miserable etc until we worked out what was causing the issue. I knew there was something wrong with her, but we were fobbed off several times. So I would say it could be totally normal but trust your instincts and if you think there's something wrong, do make sure you get your DC checked out (several times if needed!).

Thank you! My feeling is that he’s ok, but that too much dairy doesn’t agree with him.
He’s generally very happy, sleeps well, eats everything in sight... just poos for England!
Nappies aren’t an odd colour or anything no mucous, not 100% solid but not loose or too soft either.
Maybe he just has a very effective system!
