Do calls centres call from private numbers

Just had a call from a private number. I know it’s not my gp surgery as their number comes up.

They do but my surgery also use private numbers when the doctor phones off-site.

With everyone working from home, I have had a few calls from private numbers that normally would have come from an office/known number. Usually it’s someone I know
