Office decorating - something appropriate which isn't really?

I love my job, but some of my co-workers are not as nice as they could be. I've tried to be friendly, but I'm now at the "do my best, do my hours, go home" stage. I don't need friends, but I do have to work there.

We're now allowed to put up "art" to make it look pretty so I'm looking for a picture or something that on the surface is motivational, but really isn't...

Any ideas?

So Art for a shared office space ?

Blastandbollocks · 22/01/2021 08:06

Well, office space that others access. Everyone is going for the "positive and uplifting" quotes about love, teamwork, friendship etc. Except I'm not that person (born cynic) and what they have doesn't match how they act.

If it wasn't for the shared, can be seen by the public, bit I'd have "just leave me alone and let me do the job, happy to chitchat about the weather but don't want deep and meaningful so you can try to use it against me"... Hmm

I would just put up an image that you genuinely connect with rather than trying to be a smart arse.

How about a wee bit of Edvard Munch?

One of the rude place names maps from here.

Hardly anyone will notice and any time you feel a bit bored or stressed, you can get up and have a giggle at where it says Twatt, Pratts Bottom etc.

Blastandbollocks · 22/01/2021 17:18

Love the place names @BarbaraofSeville

Bit harsh @Poonmig! I'm trying to have something that gets me through the day!

Though it's not very motivational...unless it motivates you to make it happen of course...

Plussizejumpsuit · 22/01/2021 17:57

So passive aggressive art?

Obviouspretzel · 22/01/2021 18:04

Link still doesn't work

Blastandbollocks · 22/01/2021 18:13

Yes, passive aggressive art is a great description.

We're being told to make it nice, but it has to be our stuff and art instead of plants which I usually have.

Can't beat a bit of Heronymous Bosch
