Best pasties by post????? And cream teas while we're at it?!

I'd like to send some 'pasties by post as a gift, but am struggling to work out which companies offer good ones. Ideally Cornish, but also considering Devon (Shock). I need them to be posted to the recipient frozen, so they can put them in the freezer and cook one as they fancy one. Lots of companies do this...which is my problem really...which to pick? It's a long time since I've been to the West Country, so no experience with real life pasties to go on. Keep being sidetracked by pictures of scones, so any 'cream tea by post' recommendations would go down very well too! Thanks...Brew

Has to be Philps.

Mail Order is from their shops - all in Cornwall so authentic Cornish Pasties. They are posted fresh in thermal boxes so you can put them straight into the freezer.

Second vote for Philps, best pasties going.

For cream teas, a lot of small independent cafes are delivering, Google with the area you need it delivered. Our local cafe is doing afternoon tea with a half bottle of Prosecco, sandwiches, mini quiches, cake and scones and fruit, was amazing

ArseWipesLemonade · 21/01/2021 12:02

I've used thecreamtea.co/ and the recipients were very impressed. I'm more of a savoury person so will be checking out those pasties!

LonelyBlueBauble · 21/01/2021 12:19

Local pastie shops are delivering, my sister lives in our home town and I keep seeing her FB posts of her tucking into one that she had delivered

She buys a box of them at a time, not just one, obviously. Sadly they only deliver locally, they are just well known in our home town.

Experienced pasty and cream tea eater and Cornwall-dweller here with another vote for Philps!

CaffeineInfusion · 21/01/2021 12:22

I did this for my parents a couple of months back. I would never do it again. It was a disappointment.

Unless I could order from the pasty shop opposite the boat ramp in St Ives. They were the best, but can't remember who they were. I'd buy from them any day!

Sendingasurprise · 21/01/2021 12:28

Thanks again all. Philps look amazing, but sadly available delivery dates are too far in advance. @Caffeineinfusion - do you mind saying where the disappointing pasties by post were from, so I can avoid?

Friends of ours absolutely rave about www.annspasties.co.uk/ and get them delivered regularly.

8MinutesToSunrise · 21/01/2021 12:33

Barnecutts all the way www.barnecutt.co.uk/pasties-by-post/

barnanabas · 21/01/2021 13:47

@caffeineinfusion Depending on how long ago this was, it was probably Philps!!
Anns are great too!
We were hoping to head over to Newquay and try Barnecutts, but then this latest lockdown got in the way. Heard good things though...

Helluva, my favourites. Helluva

Ormally · 21/01/2021 14:27

Cream teas: Tiptree. Was staggered to see what was in the letterbox pack!

Proper local Cornish pasties, I haven't had one in a while but they were the nicest growing up.

Thank you so much for all the ideas - very much appreciated. I ended up having to order quickly as hadn't realised that most small companies doing next day delivery only post out up to Thursday each week. So no deliveries on a Saturday or Monday, and this was a weekend birthday. I ended up with thecornishhamperstore.co.uk/cornish-hampers/prima_pasties_by_post/. So helpful on the phone, weekend delivery available for £5 extra, plus gave an unexpected 20% discount that wasn't on the website. Hand crimped crust, but perhaps more factory than artisan in appearance. Great for anyone in a hurry.... were delivered well packed and still frozen to the other end of the country just 18 hours after ordering. Recipient was delighted! Also, so handy that they come with bakery bags for the full 'pasty in a bag' eating experience, or to take a freshly cooked pasty to work.

But......I've learned my lesson about getting stuff like this organised earlier, especially for a real artisan baker. Philps pasties looked amazing but available posting dates were well in advance....must be so popular. Have earmarked them, plus Etheringtons for future frozen pasty birthdays. Ann's do a fantastic birthday card with two ready cooked pasties built into it...will be ordering for someone else very shortly. After all that I feel I a cream tea coming on......BrewCake
