Weird Q but did anyone not feel pregnant when they were late but just felt like AF was coming?

So many people say 'I just knew' but it must be a surprise to some?
I'm a week late. Was due 14th and since 10th have felt like AF is coming. Don't feel PG. Just normal AF symptoms but no blood.

Rereading that I don't think it's clear Confused

When you found out you were pregnant did it come as a surprise as it just felt like normal AF?

I have PCOS so unreliable periods, I felt like AF was coming and bought some pads in the weekly shop. Started feeling sick the week later on a friday afternoon, still felt sick on the Saturday so took a test. Turns out I was 6 weeks pregnant and currently have a nearly 5 week old snoozing on me. I hadn’t been on contraception since my first DS was born 5 years before due to PCOS and had never been caught. First Sunday of lockdown has blessed me with a very welcomed surprise DS2!

I had cramps and thought AF was coming any day. It wasn’t til my boobs started hurting that I wondered and took a test. Second pregnancy no cramps and no sore boobs.

I didn't know either time. First I thought was period cramps. Only tested as had to for a procedure (to investigate 5 years of infertility!) in hospital the following day. 2nd I had no idea until I threw up.

I did know before but I also remember those cramps like af coming when I was 4-5 weeks pregnant

NigellasMicrowave · 21/01/2021 10:37

Yes, me. I was convinced my period was on the way. I was tired, grumpy (hormonal) and had all my usual symptoms. The BFP came as a bit of a surprised because I was certain I was out that month.

I think actually most people do not 'know' that they are pregnant.

If you have been planning it and are micro watching for every sympton, then I think it is easy to think that you know.

But if this was a surprise pregnancy, most early symptoms are pretty similar to pre- menstrual symptoms.

If I hadn't had a test, I wouldn't have known I was pregnant until about 8-10 weeks.

Not even that really. My periods have been a bit all over the place even though I usually have a regular cycle and we didn't think we could have children.

I always tracked my period though as it's always handy to know.

The last way I had been before was ten days so wasn't really bothered.

Then my partner suggested we had a drink as we had a few days off and I just happened to say that I didn't want a drink unless I took a test just in case.

Ok and behold, pregnant 9 days after AF should have been. The next few days I felt very bloated and sore boobs. Everything has calmed down and now I just feel a few niggles and the odd wave of nausea. Not how I imagined being pregnant would feel! Yet....

I really doubt I'm pregnant. I'll get a test today.

How did it go OP?

Spacecudet · 23/01/2021 17:19

With my first I was just constantly desperate for the toilet before my period was due. I thought I had a urine infection. Went to the doctors and they suggested I was pregnant. Even though we were TTC I was very surprised to find out I was.
