Son coming out 🌈

My 10yo son has just came out to me and told me that he is gay ❤️ of course I am completely supportive and OK with this choice but I am concerned that he is too young to be able to fully understand what it means. Has anyone else got experience with this, I want to make sure I can do my best by him.

Meh I knew at 10 that I was straight. Admittedly I didn’t have to tell anyone about it. Just support him, he’s still young so things may change but if they don’t then you won’t be shocked when he brings home a fella Grin

I would just say 'oh that's interesting' and 'let's not give labels now' and 'just be who you want to be'. That's what I said to my 13 Yr old who then 6 months later changed their mind. They are 'trying on' different things to see what fits them in the end.

My ds tells me he is pan sexual, I don't really know what it means but I will support him whatever. I do think the younger generation are much more open minded towards sexuality and therefore I don't feel he has to define himself as a child into any particular sexual group.

Yeah you're right I suppose I knew at that age I was straight too Smile

Great!! My main concern is he's such an open and honest wee boy and he's likely to tell his friends he has these feelings and you know how cruel kids can be especially him going to high school next year.

Kids are very accepting these days so he should be fine.
