Patches for giving up smoking

Has anyone used them?

I gave up a long time ago, but restarted after a couple of years. I tried to give up again, using the patches, but they didn't seem to stick to my skin so I didn't feel like they were working, and didn't manage to give up.

I've been told that different makes have different adhesive. Which make did you use, and was the adhesive good?

I used the niquitin ones which I thought were good. Just have to be careful, I got the strongest ones and they just made me feel sick all day, I needed the lesser ones really but I went back on the fags instead going to try again soon.

I’m never had a problem with the adhesive, and kept them on 24 hours so I didn’t wake up craving.

I think it may have been Niquitin I used the first time, and they worked really well! I wonder if I got a bad batch the second time? I was putting the patches on my hip, and every time I went too the loo the patch was not stuck to me, just held in place by my pants!!!

Good luck when you try again :) Getting into the right frame of mind is almost the hardest bit I think!

I used Niquitin. Loads of online reviews complain about the adhesive but I found it good. I do wear snug-fitting clothing though and the pressure obviously helps it to really stick (I don't mean tight clothes the entire time - it'd work even if just worn for the first half an hour after patch application). I, too, stuck them on my hip - or the side of my lower back.

I took mine off every night to avoid the crazy dreams.

Nicotinell didn't have any effect on me. I never really understood why or how but they really didn't work.

I needed to use the odd lozenge too - I think they were 2mg but I'm not sure. I bought Boots own.
