Egg me on, or talk me down...dyeing hair at home

Have got quite thin/fine shoulder length hair. Usually have bleached highlights at the hairdresser but have done some home box dyes before without sufficient damage and ok results.

Thinking about getting a cap and some proper bleach with a bond in+developer and an ashy/silver toner to go over.

Haven't made it to hairdresser since October and prior to that was January (due to lockdown/new baby/surgery).

Good idea or bad? Any tips?

*without significant damage that should say!

Do it! I do it all the time and have never wrecked my hair. I've had a couple where it hasn't quite come out as expected but never a disaster. Do it!!

Have you done highlights with a cap, or an app over colour?

I would advise you to check out Brad Mondo on FB, who has some excellent advise on how to avoid hot roots I.e orange!

Plus some of the videos of home hair jobs are excellent - I wish I’d seen them the multiple times I tried to bleach my hair. It’s totally doable but really needs research.

Thanks, I've seen Brad Mondo Grin
