Where to go that's warm for the day?

DH has a job that he can only do at work - can't WFH - so I have done most of the homeschooling. Much better effort this lockdown from school, so DS (9) needs minimal interaction - just sometimes prodding in the right direction or something checking where he's unsure. Also needs keeping an eye on re time - e.g. when teacher says to go away and do work and then rejoin the meeting at a certain time.
Anyway, DH is actually home this Fri and has suggested I take myself off for the day to relax, get a takeaway etc. (Otherwise I will get pulled into the schooling). I want to go out for the whole day - walking, lunch and then somewhere warm in the afternoon. But where can I go in the afternoon in these times that is warm, inside and socially distanced? ideas please.

Ehhhhhhhh nowhere.

Go to your room, put a note on the door that says unless it involves broken limbs, blood or requires an ambulance I AM A FIGMENT OF YOUR IMAGINATION. Do not disturb

Put some head phones on and if you do hear stuff that piques your interest repeat ad nauseum, not my pigs, not my farm.

You can't do that.

yawnsvillex · 19/01/2021 14:57

Are you aware we're in lockdown OP?

Throwaway99 · 19/01/2021 14:57

Nowhere.

AttackOfTheFloppyKnob · 19/01/2021 14:59

KFC drive through ? 🤨

onlineschoolmum · 19/01/2021 14:59

Yes, you're confirming what I had already thought.

I will put up a sign on the door "Here be dragon", shove on netflix through headphones and only muster a response of it sounds like blue murder is taking place :-)

Take thermos. Take snacks. Go for long walk, picnic in car with book afterwards.

Then home, hide in bath with wine. Then hide in bedroom with film.

Your welcome

squishee · 19/01/2021 15:02

I'm drawing a blank.

Pootles34 · 19/01/2021 15:03

Garden centre? Just joking. I second the bed idea - I'd probably do your walk in the morning, then drive to do your weekly shop in your car, then eat a takeaway lunch and coffee in the car with a nice book, then afternoon nap at home with ear plugs in.

BogRollBOGOF · 19/01/2021 15:33

Supermarket bakery section? Grin

It's hard when you can't relax at home and there isn't anywhere you can retreat to (or dismiss the family) so you can just be alone.

I had some cold evenings in the car while my DCs did sports over the autumn, made bareable by a big blanket, hotwater bottle and coat.

BogRollBOGOF · 19/01/2021 15:33

Coat? I meant book.

Take your pick, would you prefer a beach in Hawaii, or a safari in Kenya? First, you need the music ( guitars, or drums). Next, the outfit; obviously a bikini, or shorts and a khaki shirt. The drinks; preferably alcohol, but fruit juices at a pinch. And the chocolates. Appropriate netflix film optional. Maybe some moisturiser. Plus, a fan heater.

Get that fan heater going early in your bedroom, we're looking for tropical heat. Run a really hot bath, soak, get dressed in your holiday outfit and lock yourself in the bedroom with the chocs, music, film etc. Enjoy.

Coming next week; a trip to Paris with Serge Gainsbourg.
Tier10 · 19/01/2021 15:48

Sit in your car with the heater on.

I wouldn't stay in the house. I'd pack a decent picnic and a flask, drive to go on a long walk somewhere, finish my picnic in the car then read my book, maybe ring some friends for a catch up before going home. Weather meant to be good on Friday.
