Just browsing Rightmove earlier, glad I read the full description. Is this even legal?

So creepy!

Ohbuggeroffcovid · 18/01/2021 22:49

Oh my Christ! He is far too close to the house!

Did anyone else not consider a coffin. I thought he would be down there Trevor style in Brookside.

SD1978 · 18/01/2021 22:50

Body in the garden wouldn't be a deal breaker for me, but the location that close to the house would- I wouldn't like to think I was walking over him every day!

HerMammy · 18/01/2021 22:50

@myhobby
Crikey, he's like a little path to the shed! Why didn't they put him out of the way a bit?
🤣🤣🤣
Very odd the family obeyed his wish to be buried there then promptly put the house up for sale, obviously no sentimental value to them.

Lochroy · 18/01/2021 22:51

Well I wouldn't be keen!

I'm pretty sure if it was ashes scattered then they wouldn't have said buried and actually wouldn't have mentioned it at all.

If it is that patch of mud, it's quite close to the house and in middle isn't it! I wonder if that's linked to the comment about part of the garden being rented from the council - perhaps the burial had to be on the privately owned land? Odd set up, even without the burial.

I did notice the sad items left behind - given the state of it, either there aren't any caring family left to deal with the estate, or they're so annoyed the deceased's wishes have devalued their inheritance they're not bothering to try.

HercwasanEnemyofEducation · 18/01/2021 22:51

Why are we all assuming it's a bloke?

CoronaIsWatching · 18/01/2021 22:52

@SlopesOff

What is that in the front garden, near the wall?

We are all assuming the part of the garden is at the back...

Looks like an overturned fridge freezer

I wouldn't be bothered about the body but I agree with the pp, it's overpriced as it is seeing as it's in need of full renovation and that area of Leeds isn't very nice.

Seeingadistance · 18/01/2021 22:52

Maybe he made it a condition that they had to bury him in the garden to inherit the house.

GreenSlide · 18/01/2021 22:52

If part of the garden is leased from the council I'm wondering if he's buried just beside the border line of his own property and that's why he's so close to the house and couldn't be buried further down a bit.

echt · 18/01/2021 22:53

I remember a UK TV programme years ago where man had buried his wife in the garden wall (not in a Brookside fashion).

Several of my neighbours have assured me that a house on my street has a horse buried in the garden, standing up, which is what you have to do, apparently.

Butchyrestingface · 18/01/2021 22:53

🎵 I beg your pardon
I never promised you
a corpse in the rose garden 🎵

It's quite sweet really, in a macabre sort of way. I wonder if there is something in the deeds that prevents reburial somewhere else.

Tryingtoslim · 18/01/2021 22:53

It’s the Leeds united crest on the front of the house for me Grin

Ohbuggeroffcovid · 18/01/2021 22:54

@HercwasanEnemyofEducation the description says ‘he’.

Please be aware this property is being sold by family members as part of a relatives estate. It was the deceased's wishes to be buried in the garden as he was born and died in the house. This wish has been carried out and the property will be sold as is

HercwasanEnemyofEducation · 18/01/2021 22:54

Ahh thanks @Ohbuggeroffcovid totally missed the HE Blush

Lochroy · 18/01/2021 22:56

I forgot it said family. Whoops.

torquewench · 18/01/2021 22:57

One of my friends buried their large dog in their old back garden, on its side, legs out in front. You could just about make out the outline as the grass grew really quickly over it, and it was quite literally pushing up daisies, they didnt grow anywhere else in her garden 😂

covetingthepreciousthings · 18/01/2021 23:00

It's to be hoped they've buried him deep enough.. we buried a bird in our garden a few months ago and somethings dug it up (presuming a Fox).

I can't unsee the big mound of earth now.

I think the PP might be right who said he maybe hoped the relatives would keep the house in the family at the time rather than sell up..

Hugoslavia · 18/01/2021 23:00

Yes,it is legal. But surely you'd want your relatives to visit ans how can you do that once the property is sold, if in fact, it ever sells.

AbbeyBelfast · 18/01/2021 23:00

The body in the garden wouldn't put me off. The absolute state of the sh*t hole of a house would though.

StopTheTrainWantToGetOff · 18/01/2021 23:01

@EggyPegg

Oh my!! Just when you think you've seen it all.

Property is so cheap up North!

It is ex council in 1 of the most deprived areas in the country Not typical of the 'North"
Teddy1970 · 18/01/2021 23:01

Why are we all assuming it's a bloke? When I saw the size of the slipper I thought it was a mans, it looks like the ones my FIL would wear.

FestiveFruitloop · 18/01/2021 23:04

I want to know what all those bin bags are about. Actually, considering the other info about the property, maybe I don't. Grin

Chanandlerbong01 · 18/01/2021 23:06

@Ohbuggeroffcovid now you’ve mentioned it a coffin didn’t cross my mind! I just crudely imagined a man in a hole, I’m still not a huge fan of the idea but it doesn’t make me as uneasy thinking of a person in a coffin.

OP posts:
BoJoHoNo · 18/01/2021 23:07

Middleton is a depressing enough place as it is without having to live with a corpse in the garden.

Diva66 · 18/01/2021 23:07

Isn’t it that big white oblong tombstone in the front garden where he’s buried? Grin

No, I wouldn’t buy a house with a garden burial. Especially in such a small garden. Too many potential problems.
