Please help me find a MATTRESS. Am driving myself insane.

I decided on an Emma but then looked at the Facebook reviews. Awful.

Then a simba. But saw an article in the guardian about their poor customer service and beds getting lumpy.

So I'm thinking a proper old fashioned mattress. Not one in a box. But there's so many.

I can't go try any.

Am so lost.

Any recommendations?

Budget is 650 for King.

My budget's much smaller than yours but I've just purchased through mattress next day. Due to be delivered Wednesday but sale runs out tomorrow I think. I've gone for a spring and memory foam. Great reviews but obviously haven't got mine yet

We've had two from IKEA.

The first was one for their "rolled" range so it comes in a tube. Do not buy. Horrendous and ended up sending it back. We both dipped into the middle.

We now have a second from IKEA was £429 for a king and came whole/flat. Excellent, best one we've ever had and we say many times a month "ohhhh thank god we swapped". We went for firm.

I'm thinking spring and memory foam too. I'm not in any rush on delivery as my rooms not finished yet but am aware a lot of Jan sales are ending soon.

I have an Emma and wouldn't recommend, although DH loves it. Next time I think I'll go for the Hypnos premier Inn one. Not sure on the price though.

Mojitomogul · 18/01/2021 19:40

We have this one from Dreams and love it, its two and a bit years in and still lovely. Perfect medium firmness and just really comfy. We put a silent night topper on it, as OH prefers it a bit softer but for me either way is great!

I’ve got one from OTTY it’s about two/three years old now. I really like it. I had to turn it once a month for the first year and then you don’t. I’ve turned it once or twice since the first year.

seepingweeping · 18/01/2021 19:46

Latex mattress. I can't remember where I bought mine but it's the best mattress ever.

CupcakesK · 18/01/2021 19:47

I second the IKEA mattress. Have on occasion had guests use that bed and they always comment on how comfortable it is.

In addition I don’t feel/get disturbed by my partner moving around on it in the night. Think this is because it’s pocket sprung. I didn’t go for a memory foam as apparently they can get a bit hot and sweaty on warmer nights.

Yogatoga09 · 18/01/2021 19:53

I got the OTTY about a month ago & it’s fantastic

OnlyYellowRoses · 18/01/2021 19:55

Do not get a Simba!!! Worst money I've ever spent! It's only a year old and has a massive dent in the middle already. Customer service were shite

Trytowin20 · 18/01/2021 19:56

@CupcakesK boo! I've just plumped for a pocket spring and memory foam combo. The one I wanted had run out (same mattress pocket springs but one with memory foam, one with foam) hopefully I'm not a sweaty mess 🤦.

@TheLastDandelion I'm replacing an ikea hovag. Love it comfort wise but the sides have sagged on it. That is a pocket spring and foam (but not memory) combo so have tried to find similar and hoping for the best 😆

NoPasses · 18/01/2021 19:57

Millbrook beds are the best.

PinglePongle · 18/01/2021 19:58

Hypnos, the premier Inn one might be in your budget

CuntingSeal · 18/01/2021 20:00

I got an IKEA one too . Can highly recommend . So very comfortable .

RiverSkater · 18/01/2021 20:16

We stayed in a cottage once with the most comfortable bed ever, the mattress was by Linxbeds.co.uk beds and it was memory pocket.

I took a photo so I know what to buy next time we need a mattress!

mewkins · 18/01/2021 20:21

I have a simba and love it. Have had it for 3 years and no dents.

Benjispruce2 · 18/01/2021 20:24

John Ryan beds. You will thank me. Absolutely worth every penny. Our king size was £500 4 years ago.

TheFairyCaravan · 18/01/2021 20:24

We’ve got an IKEA Hovag medium firm. It came rolled up but we’ve had no problems with it. I thought we’d only had it a year because it’s immaculate still but I found the receipt the other day and it’s 2.5 years old and there’s no hint of a dip anywhere. It was only £270ish iirc.

We got an Emma one about 6 months ago and absolutely love it

OakleyStreetisnotinChelsea · 18/01/2021 20:28

I have the Premier Inn one, it is amazing.

SwimmingOnEggshells · 18/01/2021 20:34

The IKEA Hovag is listed as a Best Buy on Which? We have it and I love it. 4 years old and it's so comfortable, no sagging at all. Highly recommend.

Undies1990 · 18/01/2021 20:34

We have a couple of Ergoflex mattresses which are absolutely amazing. They have a sale on so King mattress is well within your budget. We've been very pleased with ours.

onyourway · 18/01/2021 20:37

I just got a John Lewis one - so many to choose from, they make them themselves and mine has been great.

Mylittlepony374 · 18/01/2021 20:39

Easca mattress. I live in Ireland though. Not sure if they deliver to UK. They delivered promptly during March lockdown. It was about 600 euro for King (on sale I think) and it is amazing. Best mattress ever.
