What is the point of poppy seeds?

I have a nice bar of mint soap, but it has poppy seeds in it and I can't see the point. There aren't enough to really be exfoliating, they don't smell of anything, what is their function?

Poppy seeds in food are a good natural sleep aid.

I think I have only eaten them in muffins and they didn't seem to add anything there either.

Sunflower seeds are delish, I used to nick them from my hamster when I was a kid.

No idea, other than in muffins or bread. I was thinking of sunflower seeds

I think I've got that soap. It gets quite scratchy as it wears down! Otherwise they are delicious in East European pastries
