One day I broke my leg and was off work for 6 weeks. It was like some sort of crazy situation where he suddenly couldn’t cope. Didn’t like that I struggled to get upstairs, was demanding and annoyed about lack of sex, was actually cruel to me about food and wouldn’t cook etc. It was like a nightmare from the man I thought I knew, ‘jokingly’ pushed me in the bathroom. When I moved out I accidentally took a number of books belonging to him in a box that my mum has just filled up thinking they were all mine. As I unpacked it and set his aside to send back, there was a letter he had written (not addressed to anyone, sort of to himself) talking about how he had feelings for minors and was turned on by them. I was honestly so gobsmacked. I literally would never have had a clue.

I’m so anxious about people I meet now as I know that the smiling and seemingly normal people aren’t necessarily what they seem
