Why are so few wearing masks?

I live in a major city and when I went for a walk today I saw loads of people. I'd say only 1 in 10 was wearing a mask. Mask wearing was the exception not the norm. I felt a bit of a pillock in my homemade effort. Why so many without?

The problem with the on and offing to go in/ out of shops is that it’s rarely done correctly.

It's people who are still mingling through work, transport, supermarkets, schools, parties etc that are causing the problem... Wearing masks outside will not alter their behaviour. So it's pointless.

@Tavannach

They're the pillocks,
No they are not

Funnily enough about 20% of the people i saw on my half hour walk this morning were wearing masks out doors

I don't see many people wearing masks outdoors. Why would they?

I know someone who wears a mask outside to hide their cold sore. There is no requirement to wear them outside but it does feel warmer.

I wear mine to cover all the marks and scabs on my face. Otherwise people stare.
