Would an 18 month old sleep in a travel cot?

Not sure if this is a stupid question but we're looking at going away in the summer if that's allowed again this year. DS will be 18 months. He sleeps in a cotbed at home, would I put him in a travel cot on holiday? Sorry if this is a stupid question.

Yes, although it might not be very comfortable (we have a proper mattress in ours rather than the thin plastic one) and then he will end up in the bed with you probably.

Yes, we also bought a thicker mattress for when ours went in travel cots as the ones they come with are thin and uncomfortable.
DD2 was in a bed by 18 months so slept in a bed when we went away, but DC1 was in a travel cot until 2 and DC3 (aged 2) would go in a travel cot now if we could actually go anywhere!

Mine found them perfectly comfortable with a thicker mattress and didn’t end up in with us Smile

Yes my over 2 year old still will even with the standard mattress

SquarePeggyLeggy · 17/01/2021 21:59

My 21 month old currently is.

No mine has always hated cots so she had a toddler size air bed when we went way last summer when she was 1.5. She bedshares or sleeps in a side off cot at home

Yes, highly recommend the Aldi compact travel cot. Its packs down a lot more in comparison in a standard one. It's a cheaper version of a much more expensive one I forget the name of. Very comfy.

It comes in to aldi on their special buys so you have time to keep an eye out for it.

BlueGreenMeadow · 17/01/2021 22:04

Mine would have at that age., it’s a bed, they are quite padded

Santaiscovidfree · 17/01/2021 22:04

Dgs slept twice a week in one until about 2.6 and he no longer fit!!

samanthajonespr · 17/01/2021 22:08

Whenever my eldest went to my parents for sleepovers at that age, he would prefer the travel cot to the spare single bed. My parents had an Aldi one, Hauck Dream and play, something like that. Our littlest loves it as well but he's obviously not slept in it for a long time.

We went away when DD was about 2 and she slept in one. However our travel cot is larger than the standard size ones, I can't remember the brand off the top of my head. They also do a thick, foldy mattress that you can add into the travel cot to make it more comfy so we have that too. She's slept on it a number of times between the age of 1 and 2 and always slept fine in it. Think it might be Hauck actually.

movingonup20 · 17/01/2021 22:26

Depends on the sleeping arrangements, mine would sleep with us at that age, booked a (American aka super) king room usually

GirlCalledJames · 17/01/2021 22:39

My 26 month old has his weekend naps in a travel cot away from his noisy sister. It has an extra mattress. He sleeps well.

BendingSpoons · 17/01/2021 22:43

DD slept fine in one until 2.5ish. DS does but needs a mattress. We bought an extra mattress that we take and use in hired cots. (Can't fit our own cot in the car.)

handsandfeet · 18/01/2021 09:51

Yes. No problem. Most hotels supply them if you ask

Sarahandduck18 · 18/01/2021 09:53

Yes

We're in the middle of a long move (moving countries and staying with in-laws before getting into our own home). 18 month old has ended up in a travel cot for the last 3 months. Loves it and still sleeps through the night 8-8. I'm actually nervous about him going back into his normal cot soon as he usually sleeps with his head squish right into the net sides, and not sure how he's going to feel about hard wooden bars again!
