Anyone from Oakham Rutland?

Just wondering if anyone could let me know about Oakham? Possibly thinking of retiring to the area. Are there any areas nicer than others? Any areas to avoid? No properties coming up at the moment that are suitable. Hoping that will change over the next few months. Any advice welcomed, thanks.

I live and work in Oakham. Have name changed just for you!
I moved her about 20years ago from down south and have been very happy here. The town is small, and there are some bits of very pricy houses but we have our bits that are less affluent. What sort of budget do you have and what sort of lifestyle do you want? Rutland has a premium over the surrounding areas and I think it’s a lovely place to live but then I’m biased!

Oakham2021 thanks for the name change 🙂 Not 100% on budget yet as this won't be for about 2 years. Looking for max 3 beds, ideally detached, nice garden. Dh loves to cycle and I love mooching round the shops!
Where are the least nice areas or the premium areas?

I’m not far from Oakham, it’s very nice. Near to Rutland water which is lovely for cycling around and has a few pubs on the way round Wine

I’m not from Oakham Rutland. My Mum was planning on retiring to Rutland as its where a lot of our family is from. As we drove through the villages, people actually stopped to look at us. Mum did not move there.

Sorry OP to not return to the thread. I’m in the middle of a family emergency unfortunately.

I'm not far away.

I think the whole town is lovely. OK there are definitely some swisher bits, but none of it is what I would call a problem area.

Did you ever move here OP?
