University study abroad

Does anyone have experience of their DC studying at a university abroad (particularly Netherlands, Scandinavia or Canada).

DS has expressed an interest in doing this (degree subject likely to be humanities-based, not MFL).

I'm not averse to the idea but I don't know how you would go about doing this. Presumably there are schemes / scholarships / programmes to enable it. If anyone knows, I'd be interested to hear about it.

Waiting on what scheme is brought in by the government to replace Erasmus. Best speaking to universities who offer the courses.

The Turing scheme will only be covering years abroad as far as I know.

For the US there is the Fulbright commission although I’m not aware of anything for the countries you’re interested in.

Degrees in Europe tend to be cheap (a lot cheaper than a U.K. degree), but you can’t access student loans so need to fund it yourself.
