Hi, my DC has an assessment at Hampton Pre-Prep soon. Any tips / suggestions as to how to help my DC? Going into year 1. Thanks.

I don't even know what you are asking, sorry!

Flowerbloom9 · 27/01/2021 16:46

Hi I dont think Hampton Pre Prep needs preparation to get in - its a pretty sought after school but there is very little you can teach a 4/5 year old for assessment. As long as your DC is in a good mood and relaxed considering the lockdown times, thats all you can ask for! All the best - Im sure your DC will do very well x

Thanks so much, Flowerbloom9 - I really appreciate your response and only just checked this this evening! DC did really well in the assessment and is now on the waiting list (I randomly just posted another post asking what the realistic chances are of getting in!). The school said the waiting list this year is smaller than previous years but I'm not hopeful (I know how competitive it is). We are hoping to move to the area but want a place in a school before we get serious on houses (maybe we have that the wrong way round?!). We'll see - thanks again for your response! x

Bump

@MKKLC I was about to ask the same question, there is a possibility my DC will have an assessment for Year 2, no idea what the questions might be. Or if there are any availabilities. Good luck for us all.

Omamo · 22/02/2021 18:54

When there will be movement on waiting list ? They give notice to leave by 30th April ????

CrispyMonster · 22/02/2021 19:48

There will be movement when a place becomes available in the relevant year - not really up to the school. If parents want to pull out, they need to give a terms notice and that creates a place.
Our DC passed the assessment earlier this year during lockdown and is now on the waiting list if a place does come up this year. I'm not optimistic as I know how competitive places are there but we can live in hope!

Skyloop · 22/02/2021 20:07

Does anyone know what type of questions they ask for year 2 vacancies?

Omamo · 22/02/2021 20:24

omg I think everyone on waiting list are in this thread. Here .
I heard it’s less than 10 on list.
10 people pull out or / and give notice to leave by august ?

Omamo · 22/02/2021 20:27

I am on 6 states school waiting list .
2 ballots . 1 post assessment waiting list .
Feeling hopeless and anxious here south of river .

and feel like I should pack my bag moving to north of river into a none selective prep studying in cellar / attic “house “ .

AuditAngel · 22/02/2021 22:26

Omamo which state schools are you on waiting lists for?

We live near Hampton Prep/Pre-Prep, and a friend teaches there. She’s very happy, her son finished there last year

Omamo · 22/02/2021 22:46

That’s warm heartening . Thank u .

Omamo · 23/02/2021 07:36

State school waiting list moved fast —15 places up ladder —-last Sep to Xmas .
Since Xmas until now : zero movement.

With private schools ... no idea about the movement ....
