Spotting mid cycle

Normal or contact GP? It’s happened several times in the last month, usually about 10-14 days before my period . Just a tiny amount of bleeding .

I’m up to date with my smear, no chance of pregnancy and not on any contraceptives. I do have PCOS .

GP isnt handling non urgent queries right now - said emergency appts only for the foreseeable - so don’t want to bother them if I can avoid it!

Sorry you haven't had any answers!

It could be nothing, but the advice is to get any unusual bleeding (by that, they mean unusual for you) checked out by a GP.

I had similar about three years ago. I had a smear test and they sent me for a scan of my ovaries. Everything came back fine. The GP then prescribed me tranexamic acid for heavy bleeding and I've not had any issues since!

I've been having a week of mid cycle bleeding every month for about 3 years.

Been to GPs, hospital consultant too. Only real suggestion was that it was caused by ovarian cysts they saw on scans (I'd been having lots of pain with the cysts). No treatment options suggested, sadly.

I've had similar and I had a Mirena fitted a year ago but due to lockdown and then urgent appointments only I haven't contacted my GP but now I'm thinking I probably should, specially as its ongoing. Reading your post, my gut response is contact your GP so I'm going to take my own advice and do the same tomorrow. Good luck OP, I hope its nothing.

Hi OP. I've had the same issue for a few years now. At the same time, I saw myriad gynaecologists and fertility consultants as i was having fertility problems. I used to be fairly regular; 28 days, no mucking about. In the last few years, it's been spotting from about day 23 for four or five days then light period for another four or so days and it is such a faff.
I was sure that it was related to my fertility problems, but the doctors said no and were thoroughly disinterested in it (I eventually got the unhelpful diagnosis of "unexplained secondary infertility" after being prodded and poked and tested in all sorts of unpleasant ways).

I say all this to say it may just be 'one of those things' and may not result in any answers. Still worth getting checked though, given it's not normal for you.

I hope you get some answers!
