Broad band for a 77 yr old

Does any body have any recommendations for a broadband provider that is a reasonable price for a Senior Citizen.

My mum is almost 77, We lost my DDad back in May.

Dad and mum moved to the village they live in now a few years back to be nearer to my sister and I, they did everything together,
and although she has a few friends, they live miles away,
she doesn't drive and of course at this moment in time, won't get a taxi or bus in to our local towns etc.

And so due to lock down has been unable to go and meet other women/people and make friends in the village.

She is getting more and more anxious about COVID, and I feel her mental health is beginning to suffer.
And she's lonely. They were married for 57 yrs, and together a few years before that!

So (I will run this past her) I thought if I brought her an iPad/Tablet she can go online, order shopping, play games, read the news etc etc

So any recommendations would be good
TIA

It took a lot of effort to teach my DM how to use the internet and even more for my MIL.

It's also worth thinking about what technology will work for them - for example my DM couldn't hold/work a tablet due to arthritis. An old school laptop with massive keys has worked better. What I thought was intuitive turned out to be, well not, and we get a lot of calls to say things are broken when one of them can't find the start button. Just saying.

They can both read the news, my DM loves simple games on her computer, watches youtube, can email but zoom and shopping has never happened.

My DM has Virgin with a TV package as she became obsessed with tennis which has been a Godsend - she is an expert in women's tennis so worth thinking about a package.

I think Plusnet are about £22. It might be worth speaking to her telephone provider though to see if you can get a better offer through them.

Another option might be to get her a phone with a larger screen and a good gb deal. Smarty are doing 30gb for £10 per month.

If she's feeling lonely her local Age Concern may offer a befriending service too Smile
