I've taken to having a sit down breakfast since WFH. This now entails a toast rack and proper tea pot. I've now decided I need proper old school flowery china and possibly a tea cosy.

I'm not even 30 Confused

iklboo · 15/01/2021 20:42

Yep. Used to go to bed at 4am, smelling of Chanel No 5 and vodka.

Now it's 10:30pm smelling of Deep Heat & Horlicks.

Iheartsheep · 15/01/2021 20:44

I’m 36 and my DH recently bought me a retro China tea set and I was absolutely delighted. Best gift he has ever bought me. I’m with you on this one OP

A toast rack? This sounds amazing! Is it a posh one? Where do you buy toast racks these days?
I am actually getting excited about the prospect of a toast rack!!

trunumber · 15/01/2021 21:10

Meh, I used to buy tea sets and toast racks in my 20's. Now I'm twice that age I'm not interested anymore- I think you might still be young!

user184628462 · 15/01/2021 21:10

You sound like my mother. She loved a toast rack and pretty breakfast china. Grin

dollydarling · 15/01/2021 21:12

I got it from John Lewis, which makes it the poshest thing I've ever owned Grin but it was only £7

I'm 26 this year and I've been searching for a lovely tea set and maybe a matching cake stand. Definitely feel a lot older than 26, my weekly pill box and joint support straps don't help.

Isthisentirelynecessary · 15/01/2021 21:14

goes away to google toast racks from John lewis

topcat2014 · 15/01/2021 21:15

I have been trying using real butter this week not Olivio etc and need to get a butter dish !

50 this year!

Doyouwantanothercuppa · 15/01/2021 21:16

I got a pair of gardening gloves for Christmas, and as a treat I recently bought myself an embroidery kit (with a Bible verse design, no less!) I’m only 30.

cansu · 15/01/2021 21:21

I know. I have bought myself a cross stitch kit and am looking at a pretty mug for my morning coffee!

Santaiscovidfree · 15/01/2021 21:23

I have a tea cosy!! I am 49.
As compensation my dh is just turned 40!
Wink

Titsywoo · 15/01/2021 21:26

Yep. Thing is as much as I had a lot of fun drinking and partying in my 20's I am much happier gardening, reading, sewing and cooking now in my 40's!

Pleasebe2022 · 15/01/2021 21:27

I'm off to find a toast rack and tea set.

I started using real butter a year ago so have a butter dish. I also have a teapot. I'm 46.

HopeYourHighHorseBucks · 15/01/2021 21:29

I just argue with a mini version of myself, about why they cant take their clothes off in public.

To be fair does remind me of when me and my friends were on a night out Grin

HopeYourHighHorseBucks · 15/01/2021 21:32

And I'm only 27.

I owned a butter dish even in my clubbing days though, real butter on toast is a good hangover cure.

I did buy slippers the other day, that's a new low for me.

PainterInPeril · 15/01/2021 21:39

I found part of a beautiful second-hand Noritake teaset (Japanese but made for the European market) at an antiques fair. It would have been perfect except it had been repaired and was unusable. Reader, I still bought it! It is ornamentally gorgeous! I was in my late 20s/early 30s!Smile

purrswhileheeats · 15/01/2021 21:40

I now get up at the same time as I used to get home back in my clubbing days. FML 😭

Lavanderrose · 15/01/2021 21:43

Same lol. I’ve just brought a lovely teapot from Neptune.

EnglishGirlApproximately · 15/01/2021 21:47

I'm 46 and put a teasmade in my home office today Grin I've been staring at those walls since March with no end in sight so thought I should make it more comfortable Blush

Knitting is where it's at. Last year my DM got me a fabric knitting needle roll for my birthday. Imagine my excitement when I discovered it was populated with every size of needle abs a couple of crochet hooks! I'm currently listening to planet rock and reminiscing about Jilly's in Manchester. No way could I handle the all nighter now.

dollydarling · 15/01/2021 21:53

I'd like to knit but suspect I'd run out of patience.
