Online murder mystery

Does anyone know of a murder mystery that can be done online by a couple of people? I did an escape room last night and it was all clever clever puzzles and not "oooh, maybe he's the long lost brother in disguise". If that makes sense! I know escape rooms are puzzle based so not grumbling but it seemed like the scenario was based around the puzzles rather than the other way round.

I have started doing this one which, I'm enjoying but it's looooong and not one for doing in a joint call in a couple of hours. More comparing notes now and then as we work through separately.

I have no suggestions, but giving this a bump as it sounds like something I’d enjoy.

Thanks WarmSausage
The one I linked to was only a fiver. Can't promise it won't turn out rubbish but do far it's good fun.

Shameless place marking as sounds like something I'd be interested in doing with some friends. We've been doing quizzes which are good but this could be something different to do. Hopefully someone will come along with something.

Try the Macmillan website. They have an escape room and I think they have a murder mystery one too

FluffyPJs · 15/01/2021 21:54

I've just checked - they do! It's called whodunnit

Scout2016 · 16/01/2021 10:17

Thanks. I might email to ask them if the murder mystery is essentially an escape room (ie series of puzzles) with a murder theme, or more detectivey. My friend did the escape room and found it quite hard, there were 8 of them I think.

The MacMillan one is pants.

It's like a really bad murder mystery party, where you are told to "ask Lady B where she was," but Lady B hasn't been given any information either and either says "dunno," of makes something up which might contradict everything else.

There is no figuring out, it's just awkward and badly executed.

Martinisarebetterdirty · 16/01/2021 10:20

The whodunnit on Macmillan is a role play party that you do on zoom. It’s great fun if you want to act it out but you do need 6-8 people for it.

Martinisarebetterdirty · 16/01/2021 10:21

X post @LetsSplashMummy Grin it was badly executed and hammy but if you’ve done the murder mystery party box games before they are exactly like it.

BertTheBeetle · 16/01/2021 10:23

The Macmillan ones are excellent. They are ‘free’ but they recommend you donate. However they have to be done by a minimum of six people.

www.righthereproductions.com/shop This company has online murder mysteries you can do from home, including some suitable for children.

Housebuyer2021 · 16/01/2021 10:26

I’m sure I’ve seen a virtual jury thing that might be worth a Google OP. I know it’s not exactly what you’re after but possibly something you’d enjoy.

Saw this just this morning, looks good!

murderedformoney.co.uk is a great company. I really like their online events

Scout2016 · 16/01/2021 18:14

Thanks everyone. Definitely going to look these up.
And the jury one sounds very much my bag.
