Collagen supplements- do you take them? Do they work?
BigButtons · 15/01/2021 09:37
Has anyone had results using collagen?
Better skin/ hair/ nails?
Are there brands to avoid?
Is it all a bit emperor’s new clothes?
If they work I would get some 🙂

I use a collagen powder everyday.
I know a lot of people don't believe in it being useful but it's worked for me and isn't overly expensive so I'm happy to carry on.
My skin has a nice glow to it, evened out toned and generally 'fresh faced', hair is much stronger too. Haven't noticed much to my nails bit that could be due to manual work.
The thing I noticed the most was less aches and pains, reading up it mentions that it can be good for joints so I put it down to that.
I buy 2 tubs in the Holland and barret penny sale and that tends to see me through until the next sale comes along.
I guess even if it is a placebo it's working for me

My current one is marine based, the veggie ones aren't any good at all apparently
Just something to consider if you're veggie or vegan.

A while back I bought some- huge bag of bovine stuff. I hated it so much it made me gag when I drank it so I stopped. I am feeling achey though and could do with a bit of a 'glow'. Might try the H&B stuff- am passing a shop today.
Perhaps it was just the brand I have. Do they all taste horrible?

Mine doesn't have any flavour at all it's by Bioglan in a white tub with pink on it- I just throw it in any liquid i'm having that day i.e mixed through my porridge, yogurt, juice, coffee etc. and does the trick

Bumping thread after seeing someone on one of the FB groups who's been using this and Turmeric paste in addition to The ordinary. Has anyone else had results with collagen? Her face was glowing and she looked 10 years younger!

Yep I can see a definite improvement since taking collagen supplements.
Skin feels bouncier and looks fresher and more even. Just better!
I get the capsules combined with Hyluronic acid

Does anyone know if there may be similar side effects taking collagen supplements to Biotin? Biotin makes me break out with horrible spots and I do wonder if collagen will be the same...
Justjoinedforthis · 01/06/2021 11:15
I have been taking for about forty days and I think my skin os better, but as someone else said that may be in my head! I have noticed acne around mouth and chin which I never had before really apart from when pregnant...wondering now if it is linked!
Justjoinedforthis · 01/06/2021 11:15
The marine collagen tablets btw
isthismylifenow · 01/06/2021 11:16
I have taken collagen tablets for years. I can definitely tell the difference if I stop taking them. I don't buy the powders as I really can't deal with the texture of them.
My hairdresser has a good old moan every time I go there as my hair is much thicker than it was, and my nails grow out really fast and they are strong. And I do look a bit more drawn if I ever have a break from taking them.
I won't recommend a brand as I am not in the UK, but imo you get what you pay for. If they are really cheap, have a look at the ingredient list.

@Justjoinedforthis it was around my mouth and chin where I was breaking out - not many spots but deep ones that didn't heal. They went away pretty soon after I stopped the Biotin.
Justjoinedforthis · 01/06/2021 13:55
From today I am going to stop taking it for a week or so as an experiment! I think at my age (34) I would rather lose the spots, they are really bumming me out!

I've just started the powder adding one spoonful to my coffee shall report back 😁. The results looked amazing better then any botox!
